പെനി ബ്ലാക്ക്
ലോകത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ഒട്ടിക്കാവുന്ന സ്റ്റാമ്പാണ് പെനി ബ്ലാക്ക്. 1840 മെയ് 1-ന് ബ്രിട്ടനിൽ വച്ചാണ് പെനി ബ്ലാക്ക് പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയത്.
രൂപകൽപ്പന[തിരുത്തുക]
വിക്ടോറിയ രാജ്ഞിയുടെ ചിത്രം രൂപകൽപ്പന ചെയ്തത് ചാൾസ് ഹീത്തും മകൻ ഫ്രെഡറികും ചേർന്നാണ്. ബ്രിട്ടനിൽ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്ന റവന്യൂ സ്റ്റാമ്പിൽ നിന്നാണ് മുകളിൽ കാണുന്ന "POSTAGE" എന്ന വാക്ക് എടുത്തത്. 1840ൽ പെനി ബ്ലാക്കിന്റെ 12 സ്റ്റാമ്പുകൾക്ക് ഒരു ഷില്ലിങ്ങായിരുന്നു വില. കറുത്ത മഷി കൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു ഇത് അച്ചടിച്ചിരുന്നത്. 1840 മെയ് 8-ന് നീല മഷ കൊണ്ട് അച്ചടിച്ച സ്റ്റാമ്പും പുറത്തിറങ്ങി.
വിതരണം[തിരുത്തുക]
1840 മെയ് 6ന് ശേഷമാണ് പെനി ബ്ലാക്ക് ജനങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കാൻ ആരംഭിച്ചത്. ബ്രിട്ടനിലെ എല്ലാ പോസ്റ്റ് ഓഫീസുകളിലേക്കും പെനി ബ്ലാക്ക് സ്റ്റാമ്പുകൾ മെയ് 1ന് തന്നെ വിതരണം ചെയ്തു. പക്ഷേ 1841 ഫെബ്രുവരിയിൽ പെനി റെഡ് പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയതോടെ പെനി ബ്ലാക്കിന്റെ ഉപയോഗം കുറഞ്ഞു.
അച്ചടി[തിരുത്തുക]
11 പ്ലേറ്റുകൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് പെനി ബ്ലാക്ക് അച്ചടിച്ചിരുന്നത്. 1819ൽ ജേക്കബ് പെർക്കിൻസ് രൂപകൽപ്പന ചെയ്ത അച്ചടിയന്ത്രം ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് പെനി ബ്ലാക്ക് ഔദ്യോഗികമായി അച്ചടിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ഈ യന്ത്രം ലണ്ടനിലെബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ലൈബ്രറിയിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. [1]
