ശാന്തസമുദ്രത്തിലെ ദ്വീപസമൂഹ രാഷ്ട്രമായ മൈക്രോനേഷ്യയുടെ തലസ്ഥാനമാണ്‌ പാലികിർ (Palikir /ˈpælɪˌkɪər/) ഇവിടുത്തെ ജനസംഖ്യ ഏകദേശം നാലായിരത്തി ആറുന്നൂറോളം വരും.[2][3][4] 7,000 ആളുകൾ താമസിക്കുന്ന സോകെഹ്സ് മുനിസിപാലിറ്റിയുടെ ഭാഗമാണ് പാലികിർ. ഈ സ്ഥലം 33,000 പേർ താമസിക്കുന്ന പോഹ്ൻപൈ ദ്വീപിന്റെ വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.
പുരാതനകാലത്ത് ഗോത്ര വർഗ്ഗ തലവന്മാരാണ് ഇവിടം ഭരിച്ചിരുന്നത്. പതിനഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലാണ് പോഹ്ൻപൈ ദ്വീപിൽ സ്പാനിഷുകാരും പോർച്ചുഗീസുകാരും എത്തിച്ചേർന്നത്.
