വർണ്ണവിവേചനത്തിനുശേഷമുള്ള കാലത്തെ ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയുടെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ പ്രസിഡന്റാണ് താബോ എംവുയെൽവ എംബെക്കി[3] (ജനനം: 18 ജൂൺ 1942). 14 ജൂൺ 1999[4] മുതൽ 24 സെപ്തംബർ 2008[5] വരെയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രസിഡന്റ് പദവിയിലിരുന്നത്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യത്തെ ഭരണം അവസാനിക്കുന്നതിന് ഒൻപത് മാസം ശേഷിക്കുമ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം രാജിപ്രഖ്യാപനം നടത്തി. ആഫ്രിക്കൻ നാഷണൽ കോൺഗ്രസ്സിന്റെ ദേശീയ എക്സിക്യൂട്ടിവ് കമ്മറ്റി തിരിച്ചുവിളിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടാണ് അദ്ദേഹം രാജിവച്ചത്. ജേക്കബ് സുമയുടെ അഴിമതിയുൾപ്പെടെ വിവിധ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ നാഷണൽ പ്രോസിക്യൂട്ടിങ്ങ് അതോറിറ്റിയിൽ അനധികൃത ഇടപെടലുകൾ നടത്തി എന്ന് ജഡ്ജിയായ സി ആർ നിക്കൾസണിന്റെ കണ്ടെത്തലിനെത്തുടർന്നാണ് രാജിയുണ്ടായത് . എന്നാൽ 12 ജനുവരി 2009 ന് സുപ്രീംകോടതി നിക്കൾസണിന്റെ വിധി ഏകകണ്ഠമായി തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞു[6][7][8] പക്ഷെ രാജി നിലനിന്നു.

എംബെക്കി സനെലെ എംബെക്കിയെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു. ഈ ദമ്പതികൾക്ക് മക്കളില്ല. എംബെക്കി വളരെ പ്രശസ്തനായ വായനക്കാരനാണ്.
