ചെറിയ മുൾവാലൻ ശരപ്പക്ഷിയുടെ[2] [3][4][5] ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലെ പേര് White-rumped Spinetail അല്ലെങ്കിൽ White-rumped Needletailഎന്നാണ്. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Zoonavena sylvaticaഎന്നാണ്. പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിലെ കാടുകളിലും ജലാശയമുള്ളിടത്തും കാണുന്നു. ബുൾബുളിനോളം വലിപ്പമുള്ള ഈ പക്ഷിയുടെ ഉപരിഭാഗം മങ്ങിയ കറുപ്പും വയറിനു് വെള്ളനിറവുമാണ്.[6]

ആകൃതിയും സ്വഭാവവിശേഷങ്ങളും[തിരുത്തുക]

ഒരു ബുൾബുളിനോളം വലിപ്പം വരും. ചിറകുകൾക്ക് ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അത്രയും നീളമുണ്ട്. ഇരുന്നൂറടിയോളം ഉയരത്തിൽ വളരെ വേഗത്തിൽ പറക്കുന്ന ഇവ കൂട്ടമായാണ് സഞ്ചരിക്കാറുള്ളത്. ചിറകനക്കാതെ കാറ്റിന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെയാണ് ഇവ പറക്കുന്നത്. അപൂർവ്വം അവസരങ്ങളിൽ മാത്രം ചിറകുകൾ വിറപ്പിക്കും. എങ്കിലും മറ്റു പക്ഷികളെ പോലെ ചിറകുകൾ വീശിയടിച്ച് പറക്കുന്ന സ്വഭാവം ഇവക്കില്ല.[6]
