ചഗാസ് രോഗത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അവബോധമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ ഏപ്രിൽ 14 ന് ലോക ചാഗാസ് രോഗ ദിനം ആചരിക്കുന്നു. 2020 ഏപ്രിൽ 14 നാണ് ഇത് ആരംഭിച്ചത്. 1909 ഏപ്രിൽ 14 ന്, ബ്രസീലിയൻ ഡോക്ടർ കാർലോസ് റിബെയ്‌റോ ജസ്റ്റിനിയാനോ ചഗാസ് ഈ രോഗത്തെ ആദ്യമായി നിർണ്ണയിച്ചത് പരിഗണിച്ചാണ് ഏപ്രിൽ 14 തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തത്.[1][2][3][4] ലോകാരോഗ്യ അസംബ്ലിയുടെ 72-ാമത് സെഷനിൽ 2019 മെയ് 24 ന്, ലോക ചഗാസ് രോഗ ദിനം അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 2019 മെയ് 28 ന് ലോകാരോഗ്യ അസംബ്ലിയുടെ പ്ലീനറിയിൽ ഔദ്യോഗികമായി സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു.[5][6][7][8] ചഗാസ് രോഗം ബാധിച്ചവരുടെ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര അസോസിയേഷനാണ് ലോക ചഗാസ് രോഗ ദിനത്തിനുള്ള നിർദ്ദേശം സമർപ്പിച്ചത്. ഇതിന് നിരവധി ആരോഗ്യ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങൾ, സർവ്വകലാശാലകൾ, ഗവേഷണ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ, സംഘടനകൾ എന്നിവ പിന്തുണ നൽകി.[9] ആഗോള തലത്തിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വാർഷിക ദിനം അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ശ്രദ്ധ ആകർഷിക്കുന്നതിനും രോഗത്തിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണ ഇടപെടലുകൾ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് രാജ്യങ്ങളെ പ്രതിജ്ഞാബദ്ധമാക്കാനും സഹായിക്കുമെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു.[10][11]

ലോകാരോഗ്യദിനം, ലോക രക്തദാന ദിനം, ലോക പുകയില വിരുദ്ധദിനം, ലോക ക്ഷയരോഗ ദിനം, ലോക മലേറിയ ദിനം, ലോക രോഗി സുരക്ഷാ ദിനം, ലോക ഹെപ്പറ്റൈറ്റിസ് ദിനം, ലോക ആന്റിമൈക്രോബിയൽ ബോധവൽക്കരണ വാരം, ലോക എയിഡ്സ് ദിനം എന്നിവയ്ക്കൊപ്പം ലോകാരോഗ്യ സംഘടന അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തിയ പതിനൊന്ന് ഔദ്യോഗിക പ്രചാരണങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ലോക ചഗാസ് രോഗ ദിനം.[12]
