ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ ഫാഷൻ ഡിസൈനറും ബിസിനസ് വുമണും സാമൂഹ്യ പ്രവർത്തകയുമാണ് ടോറി ബർച്ച്. ടോറി ബർച്ച് LLC എന്ന കമ്പനിയുടെ ചെയർമാനും സി.ഇ.ഒയുമാണ്. ഫാഷൻ ഡിസൈനിങ്ങിനുള്ള പുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.[3] 2015ൽ ഫോബ്സ് മാസികയുടെ ലോകത്തിലെ ശക്തരായ വനിതകളുടെ പട്ടികയിൽ 73-ാം സ്ഥാനത്തായിരുന്നു ടോറി ബർച്ച്.[4]

ജീവിതരേഖ[തിരുത്തുക]

1966 ജൂൺ 17ന് പെൻസിൽവാനിയയിലെ വാലി ഫോർജിൽ ജനിച്ചു.[5] റെവ, ഇറ ഏൾ റോബിൻസൺ എന്നിവരുടെ മകളാണ്.[6] റോബർട്ട്, ജെയിംസ്, ലിയോണാർഡ് എന്നീ സഹോദരങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം വാലി ഫോർജ് ദേശീയ ചരിത്ര പാർക്കിന് സമീപത്തുള്ള ഒരു വാലി ഫോർജ് ഫാംഹൗസിലാണ് ടോറി വളർന്നത്.[7][7] ഓഹരി വിപണിയിൽ തൽപ്പരനും ഒരു പേപ്പർ കപ്പ് കമ്പനിയുടെ ഉടമയുമായിരുന്നു ലോറിയുടെ പിതാവ്.[8][9]

പെൻസിൽവാനിയയിലെ റോസ്മണ്ടിലെ ആഗ്നസ് ഇർവിൻ സ്കൂളിൽ പ്രാഥമിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി. സ്കൂളിലെ ടെന്നിസ് ടീമിന്റെ ക്യാപ്റ്റനായിരുന്നു.[7] ആഭരണ ഡിസൈനർ കാര റോസ്, ടോറിയുടെ സഹപാഠിയാണ്.[10] കിങ് ഓഫ് പ്രഷ്യ മാളിലെ ബെനെട്ടണിലായിരുന്നു ആദ്യത്തെ ജോലി.[10]

തുർന്ന് പെൻസിൽവാനിയ സർവകലാശാലയിൽ പഠനം ആരംഭിച്ചു. സർവകലാശാലയിലെ സംഘടനയായിരുന്ന കാപ ആൽഫ തിറ്റയിലെ അംഗമായിരുന്നു. 1988 ൽ ബിരുദം നേടി.[7] കോളേജ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനു ശേഷം ന്യൂയോർക്ക് സിറ്റിയിലേക്ക് താമസം മാറ്റി. ന്യൂയോർക്കിൽ യൂഗോസ്ലോവ്യൻ ഡിസൈനറായ സോറനു കീഴിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങി.[7] തുടർന്ന് മറ്റ് ഡിസൈനർമാർക്കൊപ്പം പരസ്യങ്ങൾ തയ്യാറാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.[7][11][12]

ഫാഷൻ ലേബൽ[തിരുത്തുക]

2004 ഫെബ്രുവരിയിൽ ആദ്യത്തെ ഫാഷൻ ലേബലായ "TRB by Tory Burch" (പിന്നീട് ടോറി ബർച്ച് എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടു) ആരംഭിച്ചു. മാൻഹട്ടനിലെ നോലിറ്റ ജില്ലയിൽ ഇതിന്റെ ആദ്യ വിപണന ശാലയും ആരംഭിച്ചു.[5][13][14] ഭൂരിഭാഗം വസ്തുക്കളും ആദ്യദിനം തന്നെ വിൽക്കപ്പെടുകയുണ്ടായി.[15][16] "the next big thing in fashion" എന്ന് അമേരിക്കൻ അവതാരക ഓപ്ര വിൻഫ്രി, തന്റെ പരിപാടിയായ ഓപ്ര വിൻഫ്രി ഷോയിൽ ടോറി ബർച്ചിനെക്കുറിച്ച് പറയുകയുണ്ടായി. ആ ദിവസം ടോറിയുടെ വെബ്‌സൈറ്റ് 8 മില്യൺ പേർ സന്ദർശിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി.[17][18]

2005 ൽ ഫാഷൻ ഗ്രൂപ്പ് ഇന്റർനാഷണലിന്റെ റൈസിങ് സ്റ്റാർ പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ചു.[5] 2007 ൽ ആക്സസറീസ് കൗൺസിൽ എക്സലൻസ് അവാർഡ് നേടുകയുണ്ടായി.[5][23] മികച്ച ഉപകരണ ഡിസൈനർക്കുള്ള കൗൺസിൽ ഓഫ് ഫാഷൻ ഡിസൈനർ ഓഫ് അമേരിക്ക പുരസ്കാരം 2008 ൽ ലഭിച്ചു.[24] 2015 ൽ സ്തനാർബുദ ഗവേഷണ ഫൗണ്ടേഷന്റെ സാന്ദ്ര തൗബ് മനുഷ്യാവകാശ പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ചു.[25][26]
