അമേരിക്കയിലെ ഇന്ത്യാനയിൽ നിന്നുള്ള രാഷ്ട്രീയക്കാരനും അഭിഭാഷകനും ഇന്ത്യാനയുടെ പതിനാറാമത്തെ ഗവർണ്ണറുമായിരുന്നു തോമസ് എ. ഹെൻഡ്രിക്സ്. അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളുടെ 21ആമത്തെ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റായിരുന്നു ഇദ്ദേഹം. 1885 മാർച്ച് നാലു മുതൽ 1885 നവംബർ 25 വരെ മാത്രമാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റായിരുന്നത്. 1851 മുതൽ 1855 വരെ യുഎസ് പ്രതിനിധി സഭയിൽ ഇന്ത്യാന സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ചു. 1863 മുതൽ 69 വരെ യുഎസ് സെനറ്റ് അംഗമായി. ഇന്ത്യാന ജനറൽ അസംബ്ലിയിൽ ഷെൽബി കൺട്രിയെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ചു.
ആദ്യകാല ജീവിതം
[തിരുത്തുക]1819 സെപ്തംബർ ഏഴിന് ഒഹിയോവിലെ മുസ്കിങം എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് ജനിച്ചു. ജോൺ , ജാനെ ഹെൻഡ്രിക്സ് ദമ്പതികളുടെ എട്ടുമക്കളിൽ രണ്ടാമനായിരുന്നു. പെനിസിൽവാനിയ സ്വദേശികളായിരുന്നു മാതാപിതാക്കൾ. എന്നാൽ, ഹെൻഡ്രിക്സ് ജനിക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത് ഒഹിയോവിലായിരുന്നു താമസം.[2][3][4]
വിവാഹം, കുടുംബം
[തിരുത്തുക]1845 സെപ്തംബർ 26ന് ഒഹിയോയിലെ നോർത്ത് ബെൻഡ് സ്വദേശിനിയായ എലിസ കരോൾ മോർഗൻ എന്നവരെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തു. വിവാഹത്തിന് രണ്ടു വർഷം മുൻപ് തന്നെ ഇവർ തമ്മിൽ പ്രണയത്തിലായിരുന്നു..[5] 1848 ജനുവരു 16ന് മോർഗൻ എന്ന കുട്ടി ജനിച്ചു.1851ൽ മൂന്നാം വയസ്സിൽ ആ കുട്ടി മരിച്ചു.[6][7]
