വടക്ക് കിഴക്കൻ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ഒരു രാജ്യമാണ് സുഡാൻ എന്ന റിപ്പബ്ലിക്ക് ഓഫ് സുഡാൻ(അറബി:  السودان ‎al-Sūdān)[25] ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ വലിയ രാഷ്ട്രമാണിത്[26]‍. വിസ്തീർണ്ണത്തിന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ലോകത്തിലെ പതിനാറാമത്തെ വലിയ രാജ്യവുമാണിത്. തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറ് മധ്യ ആഫ്രിക്കൻ റിപ്പബ്ലിക്, പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഛാഡ്, വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറ് ലിബിയ, വടക്ക് ഈജിപ്ത്, കിഴക്ക് ചെങ്കടൽ, തെക്കുകിഴക്ക് എരിട്രിയ, എത്യോപ്യ, തെക്ക് തെക്കൻ സുഡാൻ എന്നിവയാണ് ഇതിന്റെ അതിർത്തികൾ. 2024 ലെ കണക്കനുസരിച്ച് 50 ദശലക്ഷം ജനസംഖ്യയും 1,886,068 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്റർ (728,215 ചതുരശ്ര മൈൽ) വിസ്തൃതിയുമുള്ളതാണ് സുഡാൻ. സുഡാന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനവും ഏറ്റവും ജനസംഖ്യയുള്ള നഗരവുമാണ് ഖാർത്തൂം.
