അമേരിക്കയുടെ മാൻഹാട്ടൻ പദ്ധതിയിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത ഇന്ത്യൻ അണു ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞ്നും കോസ്മിക് ആണവഭൗതികത്ത് ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനുമാണ്‌ പിയാര സിങ് ഗിൽ(28 ഒക്ടോബർ 1911 – 23 മാർച്ച് 2002)[1]. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സി എസ്.ഐ.ഓയുടെ പ്രഥമ ഡയറക്റ്ററുമാണ്‌ ഇദ്ദേഹം.[2] ചിക്കാഗോ സർവകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്നുമാണ്‌ ഇദ്ദേഹം പ്രബന്ധവിദ്യാർഥിയായിരുന്നു(1940)[1]. അലിഗഡ് സർവകലാശാലയുടെ ഭൗതിക അധ്യാപകനും,എമിരിറ്റസ് പഞ്ചാബ് കാർഷിക സർവകലശാലയുടെയും അധ്യാപകനായിരുന്നു.(1971).ഡ‍ീയിലെ ആണവ ഊർജ്ജ കമ്മീഷന്റെ സ്പെഷ്യൽ ഡ്യൂട്ടി ഓഫീസറായും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്[1].
