സർപ്പധരൻ രാശിയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ഗോളീയ താരവ്യൂഹമാണ് മെസ്സിയർ 19 (M19) അഥവാ NGC 6273. ചാൾസ് മെസ്സിയറാണ് ഈ താരവ്യൂഹത്തെ കണ്ടെത്തി തന്റെ പട്ടികയിൽ പത്തൊമ്പതാമത്തെ അംഗമായി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയത്.
ചരിത്രം[തിരുത്തുക]
1764 ജൂൺ 5-നാണ് ചാൾസ് മെസ്സിയർ ഈ താരവ്യൂഹത്തെ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്.[5] ആ വർഷം തന്നെ മെസ്സിയർ വസ്തുക്കളുടെ പട്ടികയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം ഇതിനെ ചേർത്തു. താരവ്യൂഹത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെ ആദ്യമായി വേർതിരിച്ചുകണ്ടത് 1784-ൽ വില്യം ഹെർഷലാണ്. "എണ്ണമറ്റ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളായി വേർതിരിച്ചുകാണാൻ സാധിക്കുന്ന ഉത്കൃഷ്ടമായ താരവ്യൂഹം" എന്നാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകനായ ജോൺ ഹെർഷൽ M19-നെ വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചത്.[6]
നിരീക്ഷണം[തിരുത്തുക]
തീറ്റ ഒഫ്യൂക്കി നക്ഷത്രത്തിന് നാലര ഡിഗ്രി പടിഞ്ഞാറ്-കിഴക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായാണ് M19 സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ബൈനോകുലറുകൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചാൽ അസ്പഷ്ടമായൊരു പൊട്ടായിട്ടാണ് താരവ്യൂഹം ദൃശ്യമാവുക. 25 cm അപ്പെർച്വർ ഉള്ള ദൂരദർശിനിയിലൂടെ വീക്ഷിച്ചാൽ 3′×4′ കാമ്പും 5′×7′വലയവും കാണാനാകും.[5] ദൃശ്യപ്രകാശമുപയോഗിച്ച് നിരീക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോൾ വളരെ ദീർഘവൃത്താകാരം കൂടിയ ഗോളീയ താരവ്യൂഹങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് M19.[6] വാതകങ്ങളും പൊടിയും താരവ്യൂഹത്തിന്റെ കിഴക്കുഭാഗത്തുനിന്നു വരുന്ന പ്രകാശം ആഗിരണം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനാലാണ് M19 ഈ രൂപത്തിൽ ദൃശ്യമാകുന്നത്. ഇൻഫ്രാറെഡ് തരംഗങ്ങളുപയോഗിച്ച് നിരീക്ഷിച്ചാൽ ഗോളരൂപത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള വ്യതിയാനം കുറവാണ്.[7]
സവിശേഷതകൾ[തിരുത്തുക]
ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 28.7 kly (8.8 kpc) അകലെയായാണ് M19 സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ആകാശഗംഗയുടെ കേന്ദ്രത്തിന് വളരെയടുത്തായാണ് സ്ഥാനം, കേന്ദ്രത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ദൂരം 6.5 kly (2.0 kpc) മാത്രമാണ്.[8] സൂര്യന്റെ 11 ലക്ഷം ഇരട്ടി പിണ്ഡം ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്ന ഈ താരവ്യൂഹത്തിന് 1190 കോടിയോളം വർഷം പ്രായമുണ്ട്.[3][4] നാല് സെഫീഡ് ചരങ്ങളും RV ടൗറി ചരങ്ങളും M19-ൽ നിരീക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതിനുപുറമെ ആവർത്തനകാലം അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു RR ലൈറെ ചരമെങ്കിലുമുണ്ട്.[9] റോസാറ്റ് പദ്ധതിക്ക് ഈ താരവ്യൂഹത്തിൽ എക്സ്-റേ സ്രോതസ്സുകളെയൊന്നും കണ്ടെത്താനായില്ല.[10]
