നീർരത്നം കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഉള്ള സൂചിത്തുമ്പികളിൽ ഒരിനമാണ് തവളക്കണ്ണൻ - Southern Heliodor[1] (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Libellago indica).[2]
മറ്റു സൂചിത്തുമ്പികളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് ഇവയുടെ ശരീരം കുറുകിയതും ബലിഷ്ഠവും കണ്ണുകൾ വലുതുമാണ്. അരണ്ട കറുത്ത വരകളുള്ള ഇവയുടെ ശരീരം നേർത്ത മഞ്ഞ നിറമാണ്. ആൺതുമ്പികളുടെ വാലിന്റെയും ചിറകുകളുടേയും അഗ്രങ്ങളിൽ കറുപ്പു പൊട്ടുകളുണ്ട്. ഒഴുകുന്ന അരുവികൾക്കു സമീപം ഇവയെ കാണാറുണ്ട്. ഇന്ത്യയടക്കമുള്ള മിക്ക ഏഷ്യൻ രാജ്യങ്ങളും ഇവയുടെ ആവാസമേഖലകളാണ്.[3][4][5][6][7]
