1991 ഫെബ്രുവരി 23 ന് കാശ്മീരിലെ കുപ്‌വാര ജില്ലയിലെ കുനൻ പോഷ്പോര എന്ന വിദൂര ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ സൈനിക യൂണിറ്റുകൾ നടത്തിയ തിരച്ചിലിലും ചോദ്യചെയ്യലിലും ഇടയിലുണ്ടായ സംഭവമാണ് കുനൻപോഷ്പോര സംഭവം എന്ന പേരിലറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. അന്നേ ദിവസം രാത്രി അമ്പത്തിമൂന്ന് സ്ത്രീകൾ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ കൂട്ടമാനഭംഗത്തിനിരയായി എന്നാണ് ആരോപിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്.[1] എന്നാൽ ഹ്യൂമൻ റൈറ്റ് വാച്ച് എന്ന സംഘടനയുൾപ്പടെയുള്ള മനുഷ്യാവകാശ സംഘടനകൾ പറയുന്നത് കൂട്ടമാനഭംഗത്തിനിരയായവരുടെ എണ്ണം നൂറുകവിയുമെന്നാണ്.[2][3][4][5]
ഇന്ത്യൻ സർക്കാറിന്റെ അന്വേഷണങ്ങൾ ഈ ആരോപണങ്ങളെ അടിസ്ഥാനരഹിതമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് തള്ളികളയുമ്പോൽ ,[6] അന്തർദേശീയ മനുഷ്യാവകാശ സംഘടനകൾ ഇന്ത്യൻ ഗവണ്മെന്റിന്റെ അന്വേഷണം നടത്തിയ രീതിയേയും അതിന്റെ വിശ്വാസ്യതയേയും കുറിച്ച് കടുത്ത സംശയം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി.[7][8]
