യുഎയിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പത്രമാണ് ഖലീജ് ടൈംസ് [2][3] യുഎഇ യിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ രണ്ടാമത്തെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പത്രമാണിത്.[4]

ചരിത്രവും ലഘു പരിചയവും[തിരുത്തുക]

1978 ഏപ്രിൽ 16 നാണ് ഗലദാരി പ്രിൻറിംഗ് ആൻറ് പബ്ലിഷിംഗ്( ഗലദാരി സഹോദരങ്ങൾ)ആണ് ഈ പത്രത്തിന് തുടക്കം കുറിച്ചത്.അന്ന് യുഎഇയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പത്രമായിരുന്നു ഖലീജ് ടൈംസ്.[5][6] ഷാർജയിലാണ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചത്.[3] ഈ ദിനപത്രത്തിൻറെ ഉടമസ്ഥതയിൽ പാതിഭാഗം യുഎഇ സർക്കാറാണ്.[7][8] എങ്കിലും 2008 ൽ യുഎഇ സർക്കാർ തങ്ങളുടെ ഷെയർ വർദ്ദിപ്പിച്ചു.[4]ഇതിന് പുറമെ പത്രത്തിൻറെ ദൈനംദിന കാര്യങ്ങളിലും പുതിയ മുഖ്യപത്രാധിപരെ നിയമിക്കുന്നതിലും സർക്കാർ സ്വാധിനിച്ചിരുന്നു.[4]

ഇന്ത്യ,പാകിസ്താൻ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള പത്രപ്രവർത്തകരാണ് ഈ പത്രത്തിൽ കൂടുതലായി ജോലിചെയ്യുന്നത്.[4] പൊതു വാർത്താവിഭാഗം, ബിസിനസ് പേജ് ,സ്പോർട്സ് എന്നിങ്ങനെ വിവിധ സെക്ഷനുകളുണ്ട്.ദിവസവും 1,50,000 പകർപ്പുകളാണ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു.യുഎഇക്ക് പുറമെ ബഹറൈൻ, ഒമാൻ,കുവൈത്ത്,ഖത്തർ,സൗദി അറേബ്യ എന്നീ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും പത്രം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നു. പ്രധാനമായും 7DAYS, യുഎഇ വീക്കെൻഡ് മാഗസിൻ",നാഷണൽ,ഗൾഫ് ന്യൂസ് എന്നിവരാണ് ഖലീജ് ടൈംസിനൊപ്പം മത്സരിക്കുന്ന മറ്റു മാധ്യമസ്ഥാപനങ്ങൾ..[9]

ഇപ്സോസ് ൻറെ കണക്ക് പ്രകാരം 2009 ൽ ഈ പത്രത്തിൻറെ റീഡർഷിപ്പ് 78.8% ആണ്.[10] The paper's online version was the twenty-first mostly visited website for 2010 in the MENA region.[11]
