ആർത്തവ രക്തപ്രവാഹത്തിന്റെ തടസ്സത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നിലധികം ഘടകങ്ങൾ കാരണം ആർത്തവ രക്തത്തിൽ യോനി മുങ്ങിയ ഒരു മെഡിക്കൽ അവസ്ഥയാണ് ഹെമറ്റോകോൾപോസ്. ഹെമറ്റോകോൾപോസിന്റെ മെഡിക്കൽ നിർവചനം 'യോനിയിലെ രക്തം ശേഖരണം' എന്നാണ്. ഇംപെർഫൊറേറ്റ് ഹൈമൻ ആർത്തവവുമായി സംയോജിച്ചാണ് ഇത് പലപ്പോഴും സംഭവിക്കുന്നത്. [1][2] റോബിനോ സിൻഡ്രോം, ഗർഭാശയം ഡിഡെൽഫിസ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ മറ്റ് വജൈനൽ അനോമാലിസ് എന്നിവയിൽ ഇത് ചിലപ്പോൾ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.
അനുബന്ധ ഡിസോർഡർ ഹെമറ്റോമെത്രയാണ്. അവിടെ ഗർഭാശയത്തിൽ ആർത്തവ രക്തം നിറയുന്നു.[3]ഋതുവായതിനുശേഷമുള്ള പ്രൈമറി അമെനോറോഹിയ, ആവർത്തിച്ചുള്ള പെൽവിക് വേദന എന്നിവയുടെ ശേഷം ഇത് ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു. സെർവിക്സിലെ ജന്മനാലുള്ള സ്റ്റെനോസിസ് മൂലമാണ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഒരു ശസ്ത്രക്രിയാ ചികിത്സയുടെ സങ്കീർണ്ണതയോടെയാണ് ഇത് സംഭവിക്കുന്നത്.
