ഫിജി തദ്ദേശവാസിയായ സപുഷ്പിസസ്യങ്ങളിലെ ഒരു കുടുംബമാണ് ഡിജിനേറിയേസീ (Degeneriaceae). ഈ കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഏകജനുസായ ഡിജിനേറിയയിൽ (Degeneria) ആകെ രണ്ടു സ്പീഷിസുകൾ മാത്രമാണ് ഉള്ളത്.[1][2]
1942 -ൽ ആദ്യമായി ഡിജിനേറിയ വീയെൻസിസ് കണ്ടുപിടിച്ച ഓട്ടോ ഡിജിനറിന്റെ പേരിലാണ് ഈ ജനുസും കുടുംബവും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഫിജിയിൽ കാണുന്ന രണ്ടു സ്പീഷിസിലുള്ള മരങ്ങളേ ഈ കുടുംബത്തിലും ജനുസിലും ഉള്ളൂ, അവ:
- Degeneria roseiflora John M.Mill. - വനുവ ലെവു, ടാവേയുനി - karawa, കറവ
- Degeneria vitiensis L.W.Bailey & A.C.Sm. - വിറ്റി ലെവു - masiratu -മസിറാടു. ഈ സ്പീഷിസിന്റെ ചിത്രം ഫിജിയിലെ അഞ്ചുഡോളറിന്റെ നോട്ടിൽ ആലേഖനം ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
പൂക്കളുടെ ഘടന[തിരുത്തുക]
അസാധാരണമായ ഘടനയാണ് ഇവയിലെ പൂക്കൾക്ക്. സപുഷ്പികളിലെ പുരാതനമായ ഒരു മാതൃകയാണ് ഇതെന്നു കരുതുന്നു.[3]
