ഇന്റഗ്രേറ്റഡ് ടാക്‌സൊനമിക് ഇൻഫർമേഷൻ സിസ്റ്റവും Species 2000-ഉം ചേർന്ന് ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള എല്ലാ ജീവജാലങ്ങളുടെയും ഒരു സംക്ഷിപ്ത പട്ടിക ലഭ്യമാക്കുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശത്തോടെ 2001-ൽ തുടങ്ങിയതാണ് കാറ്റലോഗ് ഓഫ് ലൈഫ് , Catalogue of Life. ഈ പട്ടികയിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ വിദഗ്ദ്ധ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങൾ സൂക്ഷ്‌മപരിശോധന നടത്തിയ 156 ജൈവവർഗ്ഗീകരണശാസ്ത്ര ഡാറ്റാബേസുകൾ ഉണ്ട്.[2] ഈ പട്ടികയിൽ മാസംതോറും പുതുക്കുന്ന ഒരു ചലനാത്മകമായ പതിപ്പും[3] ഒരു വാർഷികപ്പതിപ്പും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.[4]

ഈ പട്ടികയുടെ 17-ആം പതിപ്പിൽ നിലവിലുള്ളതും വംശംനാശം വന്നതുമായ 1.7 ദശലക്ഷം സ്പീഷീസുകളുടെ വിവരങ്ങളുണ്ട്. ഇത് ശാസ്ത്രലോകത്തിന് ഇതുവരെ അറിവുള്ള 1.9 ദശലക്ഷം സ്പീഷീസുകളുടെ 3/4-ൽ ഉപരിയാണ്.[2]
