സാഹിത്യത്തിനുള്ള നോബൽ പുരസ്കാരം നേടിയ ബോബ് ഡിലൻ രചിച്ച പ്രധാന ഗാനങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് ബ്ലോയിംഗ് ഇൻ ദ വിൻഡ്. 1962 ൽ ആദ്യമായി അവതരിപ്പിച്ച ഈ ഗാനം പിന്നീട് 1963 ൽ "THE FREE LIVING" എന്ന ആൽബത്തിലുൾപ്പെടുത്തി പുറത്തിറക്കി. പ്രതിഷേധ ഗാനം എന്ന നിലയിൽ ലോകമെമ്പാടുമുള്ള യുദ്ധവിരുദ്ധ - പൗരാവകാശ പ്രവർത്തകരുടെ ഉണർത്തുഗീതമായി ഇത് മാറി. സമാധാനം, യുദ്ധം, സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം  എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ച് ഉത്തരമില്ലാത്ത നിരവധി ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ ഈ ഗാനമുന്നയിക്കുന്നു.[2]

1994 ൽ ഗ്രമ്മി ഹാൾ ഓഫ് ഫേമിൽ ഈ ഗാനത്തെ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തി. 2004 ൽ റോളിംഗ് സ്റ്റോൺസ് മാസികയുടെ 500 മഹത്തായ പാട്ടുകളുടെ പട്ടികയിൽ ഈ ഗാനത്തിന്14 ആം സ്ഥാനമായിരുന്നു. ലോകമെമ്പാടുമുള്ള യുദ്ധവിരുദ്ധ - പൗരാവകാശ പ്രവർത്തകരുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സ്വപ്നങ്ങളുടെ ഉണർത്തു ഗീതമായി. പത്തുകോടിയിലധികം ഡിസ്‌കുകൾ വിറ്റു റെക്കോർഡ് സൃഷ്ടിച്ച ഗാനമാണ് ബ്ളോയിംഗ് ഇൻ ദ് വിൻഡ്.

നിരവധി കൃതികളിലും പല ദേശങ്ങളിലെ പാഠപുസ്തകങ്ങളിലും ഈ കവിതയും അതിലെ വരികളും ഉപയോഗിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഡഗ്ളസ് ആദംസിന്റെ ഹിച്ച് ഹൈക്കർസ് ഗൈഡ് ടു ഗാലക്സി എന്ന സയൻസ് ഫിക്ഷൻ ആത്യന്തിക ചോദ്യം ആ ഗാനത്തിലെ ആദ്യ വരികളായ "How many roads must a man walk down?"എന്നതാണ്.

1994 ലെ ഫോറസ്റ്റ് ഗംപ് എന്ന ചലച്ചിത്രത്തിലും ഈ ഗാനമുപയോഗിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 

1975 ൽ ശ്രീലങ്കയിലെ ഹൈസ്കൂൾ പാഠപുസ്തകത്തിൽ ഷേക്സ്പിയർ കൃതി ഒഴിവാക്കി ഈ കവിത ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയത് വിവാദമായിരുന്നു.[3][4]

കേരളത്തിലെ പത്താം ക്ലാസ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കുള്ള ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പാഠപുസ്തകത്തിൽ (2016)ഇതുൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
