അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലെ ഇല്ലിനോയിയിലെ നോക്സ് കൗണ്ടിയിൽ പിയോറിയയ്ക്ക് 50 മൈൽ (80 കിലോമീറ്റർ) പടിഞ്ഞാറായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു നഗരമാണ് അബിംഗ്ഡൺ. ഗെയ്‌ൽസ്ബർഗ് മൈക്രോപൊളിറ്റൻ സ്റ്റാറ്റിസ്റ്റിക്കൽ ഏരിയയുടെ ഭാഗമാണിത്. 1828 ൽ ആദ്യമായി കുടിയേറ്റം നടന്ന ഈ നഗരം 1857 ലാണ് സംയോജിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. 2000 ലെ സെൻസസ് പ്രകാരം 3,612 ആയിരുന്ന[4] ഈ നഗരത്തിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ 2010 ലെ സെൻസസ് പ്രകാരം 3,319 ആയി കുറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.[5]

ആദ്യത്തെ താമസക്കാരന്റെ ജന്മദേശമായ മേരിലാൻഡിലെ അബിംഗ്ഡണിന്റെ പേരിൽ 1836-ൽ അബിംഗ്ഡൺ നഗരം സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[6]

തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ നോക്സ് കൗണ്ടിയിൽ അക്ഷാംശരേഖാംശങ്ങൾ 40°48′13″N 90°24′3″W / 40.80361°N 90.40083°W (40.803572, -90.400770) ആണ് അബിംഗ്ഡൺ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.[7] ഇല്ലിനോയിസ് റൂട്ട് 41 പാത നഗരമധ്യത്തിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോകുകയും വടക്കു ദിക്കിലേയ്ക്ക് 11 മൈൽ (18 കിലോമീറ്റർ) ദൂരത്തിൽ കൗണ്ടി സീറ്റായ ഗെയ്‌ൽസ്ബർഗിലേക്കും തെക്കുദിക്കിൽ 20 മൈൽ (32 കിലോമീറ്റർ) ദൂരത്തിൽ ബുഷ്നെലിലേക്കും പോകുന്നു. 2010 ലെ സെൻസസ് പ്രകാരം 1.46 ചതുരശ്ര മൈൽ (3.78 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്റർ) വിസ്തൃതിയുള്ള അബിംഗ്ഡൺ നഗരത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാ ഭാഗങ്ങളും കരഭൂമിയാണ്.[8]
