ഹോമ ദരാബി (പേർഷ്യൻ: هما دارابی; 1940-1994) ഒരു ഇറാനിയൻ ശിശുരോഗ വിദഗ്ധയും പണ്ഡിതയും, നേഷൻ പാർട്ടി ഓഫ് ഇറാനുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രവർത്തകയുമായിരുന്നു. അവളുടെ മരണത്തിലേക്ക് നയിച്ച നിർബന്ധിത ഹിജാബിനെതിരെ പ്രതിഷേധിച്ച് സ്വയം തീകൊളുത്തിയതിൻറെ പേരില് അവർ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. നിർബന്ധിത ഹിജാബിനെതിരെയുള്ള പ്രതിഷേധത്തിൽ സ്വയം തീകൊളുത്തിയ അവർ പൊള്ളലേറ്റതിനെത്തുടർന്ന് അടുത്ത ദിവസം ആശുപത്രിയിൽ മരിച്ചു.

ജീവിതരേഖ[തിരുത്തുക]

1940ൽ[3] ടെഹ്‌റാനിലാണ് ദാരാബി ജനിച്ചത്. ഹൈസ്കൂൾ പഠനം അവസാനിച്ചതിനെത്തുടർന്ന്, 1959-ൽ അവർ ടെഹ്‌റാൻ സർവകലാശാലയിലെ വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്ര വിദ്യാലയത്തിൽ ചേർന്നു.[4] 1960-ൽ, നാഷണൽ ഫ്രണ്ടിന് അനുകൂലമായി ഒരു വിദ്യാർത്ഥി പ്രകടനം സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചതിന് അവൾ തടവിലാക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[5] 1963-ൽ തന്റെ സഹപാഠിയായിരുന്ന മനോചെഹർ കെയ്ഹാനിയെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു.[6] വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്ര പഠനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷം അവൾ വടക്കൻ ഇറാനിലെ ബഹ്മാനിയഹ് ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ പ്രാക്ടീസ് ആരംഭിച്ചു.[7] ഉപരി പഠനത്തിനായി ദരാബി അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലേയ്ക്ക് പോകുകയും മനഃശാസ്ത്രത്തിൽ പീഡിയാട്രിക്സ് സ്പെഷ്യലിസ്റ്റ് ബിരുദം നേടുകയും ചെയ്തു.[8] 1976-ൽ ഇറാനിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിയ അവർ ടെഹ്‌റാൻ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റിയിൽ ചൈൽഡ് സൈക്യാട്രി പ്രൊഫസറായി ജോലി ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് പഹ്‌ലവി രാജവംശത്തിനെതിരെ വീണ്ടും രാഷ്ട്രീയമായി സജീവമായി.[9] നാഷണൽ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റിയിലും (പിന്നീട് ഷാഹിദ് ബെഹേഷ്തി യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടു) അവർ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു.[10]

1991 ഡിസംബറിൽ "ഹിജാബ് നിയമം പാലിക്കാത്തതിന്" അവളെ സ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്ന് പുറത്താക്കി. 1993 മെയ് മാസത്തിൽ ഒരു ട്രൈബ്യൂണൽ ഈ തീരുമാനം അസാധുവാക്കിയെങ്കിലും അവളുടെ സ്ഥാനം പുനഃസ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ സർവകലാശാല വിസമ്മതിച്ചു.[11]

മരണം[തിരുത്തുക]

നിർബന്ധിത ഹിജാബിനെതിരേയുള്ള പ്രതിഷേധ സൂചകമായി, 1994 ഫെബ്രുവരി 21 ന്, തജ്രിഷിന് സമീപമുള്ള പൊതുവഴിയിൽ ഹിജാബ് അഴിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം, ഹോമ ദാരാബി തലയിൽ പെട്രോൾ ഒഴിച്ച് സ്വയം തീകൊളുത്തി.[2][12] പൊള്ളലേറ്റതിനെത്തുടർന്ന് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട അവൾ തൊട്ടുടുത്ത ദിവസം ആശുപത്രിയിൽ മരിച്ചു.
