ഹന്ന എമിലി റീഡ് (ജീവിതകാലം: ജനുവരി 19, 1870 - മേയ് 27, 1955) ഒരു കനേഡിയൻ ഭിഷഗ്വരയായിരുന്നു.[1] 1926-1931 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ടോറോണ്ടോയിലെ വിമൻസ് കോളേജ് ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിലെ അനസ്തേഷ്യ വിഭാഗത്തിൻറെ മേധാവിയയായി അവർ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു.[2]

ഹന്ന എമിലി റീഡ് 1870 ജനുവരി 19 ന് ഒണ്ടാറിയോയിലെ ഓറഞ്ച് വില്ലെക്ക് സമീപം ജനിച്ചു.[3] ചെറുപ്പം മുതലേ അദ്ധ്യാപനത്തിൽ താൽപ്പര്യമുണ്ടായിരുന്ന എമിലി റീഡ് 1891-ൽ[4] ഓറഞ്ച്വില്ലെ ഹൈസ്കൂളിലെ തൻറെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷം രണ്ടാം ക്ലാസ് ടീച്ചേഴ്സ് സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് ലഭിച്ചതോടെ ടോറോണ്ടൊയിലെ നിരവധി വിദ്യാലയങ്ങളിൽ അദ്ധ്യാപനം നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.[5][6]

പിന്നീട് അവർ വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്രത്തിലുള്ള താൽപര്യം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞതോടെ ഒണ്ടാറിയോ മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിൽ പഠനത്തിന് ചേർന്നു.[7][8] ഹന്നയും സഹോദരി മിനർവ റീഡും "1905-ൽ ഒണ്ടാറിയോ മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജ് ഫോർ വിമൻ അടച്ചുപൂട്ടുന്നതിന് തൊട്ടുമുമ്പ് അവിടെ നിന്ന് ബിരുദം നേടിയ അവസാന വനിതകളിൽപ്പെട്ടവരായിരുന്നു".[9] ടൊറോണ്ടോയിലെ ഒണ്ടാറിയോ മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജ് ഫോർ വുമൺ അടച്ചുപൂട്ടുന്നത് വരെയുള്ള കാലത്ത് അവിടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നടത്തിയ അവർ, 1905-ൽ ടൊറോണ്ടോ സർവ്വകലാശാലിയിലെ ഫാക്കൽറ്റി ഓഫ് മെഡിസിനിൽനിന്നാണ് വൈദ്യശാസ്ത്ര ബിരുദം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയത്.[10][11] ബിരുദം നേടിയ ശേഷം, എമിലി റീഡ് മെഡിക്കൽ അസൈൻമെന്റിനായി വടക്കൻ മനിറ്റോബയിലേക്ക് പോയി.[12][13] തുടർന്ന്, 1906-ൽ ന്യൂ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട് ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിൽ സ്ത്രീകൾക്കും കുട്ടികൾക്കും വേണ്ടിയുള്ള ഒരു ഇന്റേൺ ആയി അവർ ചെലവഴിച്ചു.[14][15]

1912-ൽ, റീഡ് ടൊറോണ്ടോയിൽ സ്വന്തം പരിശീലനം ആരംഭിച്ചതോടെ ക്രമേണ അത് അനസ്തേഷ്യയിലും പ്രസവചികിത്സയിലും ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചു.[16][17] രണ്ട് വർഷത്തിന് ശേഷം, വിമൻസ് കോളേജ് ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിൽ അനസ്തേഷ്യ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്യാൻ തുടങ്ങി.[18][19] മാർഗരറ്റ് മക്കല്ലം-ജോൺസ്റ്റണിനുശേഷം ഈ സ്ഥാനം വഹിക്കുന്ന രണ്ടാമത്തെ വനിതയായ അവർ 1926-ൽ അവിടെ അനസ്‌തേഷ്യ മേധാവിയായി നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[20][21] ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ രേഖകൾ പറയുന്നതനുസരിച്ച്, "രണ്ട് പതിറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെയായി, രണ്ട് സഹോദരിമാരും പലപ്പോഴും വിമൻസ് കോളേജ് ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിലെ ഓപ്പറേഷൻ റൂമുകളിൽ ഒരുമിച്ച് ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്നു".[22] വിമൻസ് കോളേജ് ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിലെ തന്റെ ജോലിക്കാലത്ത്, ഹന്ന ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിന്റെ ആദ്യ ഡയറക്ടർ ബോർഡിലും അംഗമായിരുന്നു.[23][24] റീഡ് 1955 മെയ് 27-ന് ഒണ്ടാറിയോയിലെ ടോറോണ്ടോയിൽ വച്ച് അന്തരിച്ചു.[25] സഹോദരി 1957-ലും അന്തരിച്ചു.[26]
