സ്ട്രെമ്മ (ഏകകം)
ഗ്രീസിലും അനുബന്ധപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും വിസ്തീർണ്ണമളക്കാനായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്ന ഏകകമാണ് സ്ട്രെമ്മ (ഗ്രീക്ക്: στρέμμα , strémma ). നിലവിൽ ആയിരം ചതുരശ്ര മീറ്ററിന് (ഒരു ഡെകാർ) തുല്ല്യമാണ് ഒരു സ്ട്രെമ്മ.
ചരിത്രം[തിരുത്തുക]
ഒരു പ്ലെത്രോൺ (ഏകദേശം 100 അടിക്ക് തുല്ല്യമായ നീളം) നീളവും അതേ വീതിയുമുള്ള സമചതുരത്തിന്റെ വിസ്തീർണ്ണമാണ് പുരാതന ഗ്രീസിൽ ഒരു ഏക്കർ (ഗ്രീക്ക് ഏക്കർ) ആയി കണക്കാക്കിയിരുന്നത്. ഒരു ഗ്രീക്ക് ഗുസ്തിക്കളത്തിന്റെ അളവ്, ഒരു സംഘം കാളകൾക്ക് ഒരു ദിവസം ഉഴുതുമറിക്കാവുന്ന ഭൂമി എന്നിങ്ങനെയൊക്കെ ഇതിനെ വ്യാഖ്യാനിച്ചു വന്നു.[1] ഇത് പിന്നീട് സ്ട്രെമ്മ എന്ന് വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടു[2]. പല പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും സ്ട്രെമ്മയുടെ വിസ്തീർണ്ണം വ്യത്യസ്തമായിരുന്നു.[3][4][5]
ഒട്ടോമൻ സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിൽ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്ന ദുനം സ്ട്രെമ്മയിൽ നിന്ന് രൂപപ്പെട്ടതാണെന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു[6]. ഒരേ സ്വഭാവസവിശേഷതകളുള്ളതായിരുന്നു ഇവ രണ്ടും.
