സാം എസ്മെയിൽ (ജനനം: സെപ്റ്റംബർ 17,[1] 1977)[2] നിർമ്മാണ കമ്പനിയായ എസ്മെയിൽ കോർപ്പറേഷൻ ഉടമയായ ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ ചലച്ചിത്ര-ടെലിവിഷൻ നിർമ്മാതാവും സംവിധായകനും, തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തുമാണ്.[3] റാമി മാലെക് വേഷമിട്ട റോബോട്ട് (2015–2019) എന്ന അവാർഡ് നേടിയ യുഎസ്എ നെറ്റ്‌വർക്ക് ടെലിവിഷൻ പരമ്പരയുടെ സ്രഷ്ടാവ്, എഴുത്തുകാരൻ, സംവിധായകൻ എന്നീ നിലകളിലാണ് അദ്ദേഹം കൂടതൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. കോമറ്റ് (2014) എന്ന ചലച്ചിത്രത്തിൻറെ രചനയും സംവിധാനവും അദ്ദേഹമാണ് നിർവ്വഹിച്ചത്. ജൂലിയ റോബർട്ട്‌സും ജാനെല്ലെ മോനേയും[4] പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളായി അഭിനയിച്ച പ്രശസ്ത ആമസോൺ പ്രൈം വീഡിയോ സൈക്കോളജിക്കൽ ത്രില്ലർ ഹോംകമിംഗ് (2018-2020) സംവിധാനം ചെയ്യുകയും നിർമ്മിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത അദ്ദേഹം കൂടാതെ യു‌എസ്‌എയുടെ ബ്രിയാർപാച്ച് (2020), സ്റ്റാർസിന്റെ ഗാസ്‌ലിറ്റ് (2022), പീക്കോക്കിന്റെ ആഞ്ജലിൻ (2022), ദ റിസോർട്ട് എന്നീ പരമ്പരകളും നിർമ്മിച്ചു.  2022-ലെ കണക്കുകൾപ്രകാരം അദ്ദേഹം സംവിധായകനായും രചയിതാവായും പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന മെട്രോപോളിസ് എന്ന പരമ്പര (1927-ലെ നിശ്ശബ്ദ സിനിമയുടെ ഒരു മിനിസീരീസ്), ലീവ് ദ വേൾഡ് ബിഹൈൻഡ് എന്ന സിനിമ ഉൾപ്പെടെ വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന നിരവധി ടെലിവിഷൻ പരമ്പരകളും സിനിമകളും നിർമ്മിക്കാൻ എസ്മെയിൽ കരാർ ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.

എസ്മെയിലിന്റെ കൃതികൾ പലപ്പോഴും അന്യവൽക്കരണം, സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യ, അമേരിക്കൻ സമൂഹം എന്നീ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്നതു കൂടാതെ അദ്ദേഹം ഛായാഗ്രാഹകൻ ടോഡ് കാംബെൽ, നിർമ്മാതാവ് ചാഡ് ഹാമിൽട്ടൺ എന്നിവരോടൊപ്പം സഹകരിച്ച് പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതിൻറെ പേരിലും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.[5]

മുൻകാലജീവിതം[തിരുത്തുക]

ന്യൂജേഴ്‌സിയിലെ ഹോബോക്കനിൽ ഈജിപ്ഷ്യൻ കുടിയേറ്റക്കാരായ മാതാപിതാക്കൾക്കളുടെ പുത്രനായി എസ്മെയിൽ ജനിച്ചു.[6][7][8] അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഒരു മൂത്ത സഹോദരിയും മിസ്റ്റർ റോബോട്ട്, ഹോംകമിംഗ് എന്നിവയുടെ പോസ്റ്റ്-പ്രൊഡക്ഷൻ കോർഡിനേറ്ററായിരുന്ന സമീർ എസ്മയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടെ ഇളയ രണ്ട് സഹോദരന്മാരുമുണ്ട്.[9][10][11][12] അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ കുടുംബം ഇസ്ലാം മത പാരമ്പര്യമുള്ളവരാണ്.[13] അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് അഞ്ച് വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ,[14] കുടുംബം സൗത്ത് കരോലിനയിലേക്കും തുടർന്ന് നോർത്ത് കരോലിനയിലെ ഷാർലറ്റിലേക്കും താമസം മാറി.[15][16] കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത്, എസ്മെയിലിന് സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യയിൽ വളരെയധികം താൽപ്പര്യമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഒൻപത് വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ സ്വന്തമാക്കുകയും കുറച്ച് വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ പ്രോഗ്രാമിംഗ് പരിശീലിക്കാൻ ആരംഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.[17]

രണ്ട് വർഷത്തെ ഡേറ്റിംഗിന് ശേഷം 2015 ഓഗസ്റ്റിൽ എസ്മെയിൽ നടി എമ്മി റോസ്സവുമായി വിവാഹനിശ്ചയം നടത്തി.[18] എസ്മെയിലിൻറെ ആദ്യ സംവിധാന സംരംഭമായ കോമറ്റിൽ റോസം അഭിനയിച്ചിരുന്നു.[19] ജൂത വംശജയായ റോസം 2017 മെയ് 28 ന് ന്യൂയോർക്ക് നഗരത്തിലെ ഒരു റിഫോം സിനഗോഗിൽ വച്ച് എസ്മെയിലിനെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു.[20] 2021 മെയ് 24 ന്, റോസ്സം അവരുടെ മകൾക്ക് ജന്മം നൽകി.[21]
