സന്ധികളക്കുണ്ടാകുന്ന വേദനയാണ് സന്ധി വേദന അഥവാ ആർത്രാൾജിയ. സന്ധി എന്ന് അർഥം വരുന്ന "ആർത്രോ", വേദന എന്ന് അർഥം വരുന്ന "ആൽഗോസ് '' എന്നിവയിൽ നിന്നാണ് ആർത്രാൾജിയ എന്ന പദം ഉരുത്തിരിഞ്ഞത്.[1][2] പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും, പരിക്ക്, അണുബാധ, അസുഖം (പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് സന്ധിവാതം) അല്ലെങ്കിൽ മരുന്നുകളോടുള്ള അലർജി എന്നിവയുടെ ലക്ഷണമാണ് സന്ധി വേദന.[3]

എംഇഎസ്എച്ചിന്റെ അഭിപ്രായത്തിൽ, ആർത്രാൾജിയ എന്ന പദം വീക്കം ഇല്ലാത്തപ്പോൾ മാത്രമേ ഉപയോഗിക്കാവൂ, വീക്കം ഉള്ളപ്പോൾ പകരം സന്ധിവാതം അഥവാ ആർത്രയിറ്റിസ് എന്ന പദം ഉപയോഗിക്കണം.[4]

കാരണങ്ങൾ

ഓസ്റ്റിയോ ആർത്രൈറ്റിസ്, സ്പോർട്സ് പരിക്കുകൾ തുടങ്ങിയ ഡീജനറേറ്റീവ് അവസ്ഥകൾ മുതൽ ബർസിറ്റിസ് പോലുള്ള സന്ധികൾക്ക് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ടിഷ്യുകളുടെ വീക്കം വരെ വിവിധ കാരണങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് സന്ധി വേദന ഉണ്ടാകാം.[5] അണുബാധകൾ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പ്രതിരോധ കുത്തിവയ്പ്പുകൾ പോലുള്ള മറ്റ് കാര്യങ്ങളും ഇവയ്ക്ക് കാരണമായേക്കാം.[6]

രോഗി സ്വയം പറയുന്ന ലക്ഷണം ഉൾപ്പടെയുള്ള രോഗ ലക്ഷണ ചരിത്രവും ശാരീരിക പരിശോധനകളും വഴിയാണ് രോഗ നിർണയം.

ചികിത്സ

ചികിത്സ സന്ധി വേദനയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാന കാരണത്തെ ആശ്രയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അടിസ്ഥാന കാരണം ആദ്യം ചികിത്സിക്കും. ഗുരുതരമായ കേടുപാടുകൾ സംഭവിച്ച സന്ധികൾക്ക് ജോയിന്റ് റീപ്ലേസ്മെന്റ് ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ, രോഗപ്രതിരോധ സംവിധാനത്തിന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനക്ഷമതയില്ലായ്മയ്ക്കുള്ള ഇമ്മ്യൂണോസപ്രസന്റുകൾ, അണുബാധകളിൽ ആൻറിബയോട്ടിക്കുകൾ, അലർജി മൂലമുണ്ടാകുന്ന പ്രതികരണങ്ങൾ മൂലമുണ്ടാകുന്ന മരുന്നുകൾ നിർത്തലാക്കൽ എന്നിവ ചികിത്സയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടാം. പ്രാഥമിക കാരണം ചികിത്സിക്കുന്നതിനൊപ്പം വേദന കുറയ്ക്കുന്ന മരുന്നുകളും ചികിത്സയിൽ ഒരു പങ്ക് വഹിച്ചേക്കാം.[13]
