How did they qualify - As part of group five in the qualifying rounds England stormed through and came out top of their group, one clear point of Poland. The team only lost one of their 10 games played. The teams they were up against were Poland, Austria, Northern Ireland, Wales and Azerbaijan. The one game the team lost was played against Northern Ireland which ended 1-0.

England have always been strong contenders in the tournament but have only taken the title once back in 1966. The best place finish since they won the cup was in 1990 when they took 4th place.

England have an extremely strong team this year with players such as Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen up front, David Beckham and Frank Lampard running the field, Sol Campbell and Gary Neville protecting the goal.

In 2001 we saw the arrival of Sven-Goran Eriksson, he took the place of Kevin Keegan. He became the first foreigner to take the spot as manager of the England team. Sven had a big impact on the team and the 2002 world cup was a turning point for the team, beating Germany 5-1 with some great goals from Gerrard, Hesky and Owen.

1966 the year England took home the world cup title, Bobby Moore the captain of the squad led the team to victory. Beating teams such as Argentina and Portugal put the team in the final against their biggest rivals West Germany. Played at Wembley the team managed to win 4-2 after extra time. Goals from Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst set the great British saying "They think it's all over... It is now".

England look to be a threat to most teams in this world cup and all of the players and the fans will be waiting to hear those famous words of Kenneth Wolstenholme once again.

Above you can find the line up of the England national team photo and their team badge. Please take time to get to know the players and their faces. Take time to look around the site at other teams that have qualified and alsothe stadiums at which the teams will play their matches.
