ഇക്തിയോസൗർ ജെനുസിൽ പെട്ട മൺ മറഞ്ഞുപോയ ഒരു പുരാതന കടൽ ഉരഗമാണ് ഷോണിസോറസ്. [1] വളരെ വലിപ്പം കൂടിയ ഒരു ജെനുസായിരുന്നു ഇവ . അന്ത്യ ട്രയാസ്സിക് കാലത്ത് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന ഇവക്ക് മറ്റ് ഇക്തിയോസോറകളെ പോലെ മുതുകിലെ ചിറക്ക് ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു . അമേരിക്കയിലെ നെവാഡയിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഫോസ്സിലുകൾ കണ്ടു കിട്ടിയിടുള്ളത് , ഇവയുടെ 37 ഫോസ്സിലുക്കൾ (അപൂർണ്ണ) ഇത് വരെ കണ്ടെതിയിടുണ്ട് .
