ഇന്ത്യൻ വംശജയായ ഒരു വാസ്തുശില്പിയും നഗര ഡിസൈനറുമാണ് ഷീല ശ്രീ പ്രകാശ് (6 ജൂലൈ 1955, ഭോപ്പാൽ, ഇന്ത്യ)[2][3]ശിൽ‌പ ആർക്കിടെക്റ്റിന്റെ സ്ഥാപകയായ അവർ സ്വന്തമായി വാസ്തുവിദ്യാ പരിശീലനം ആരംഭിക്കുകയും പ്രവർത്തിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ വനിതയാണ്.[4][5]

ആദ്യകാല ജീവിതവും കലാപരമായ കരിയറും[തിരുത്തുക]

ഇന്ത്യൻ ആർമിയിലെ ലഫ്റ്റനന്റ് കേണൽ ജി.കെ.എസ്. പാതി, എസ്. തങ്കമ്മ എന്നിവരുടെ മകളായി 1955 ജൂലൈ 6 ന് ഭോപ്പാലിലാണ് ഷീല ശ്രീ പ്രകാശ് ജനിച്ചത്.[6]

കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത് ക്ലാസിക്കൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ നൃത്തം, സംഗീതം, കല എന്നിവയിൽ പരിശീലനം നേടി. നാലു വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ ഭരതനാട്യം പഠിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങിയ അവർ 1961-ൽ സ്റ്റേജ് അരഞ്ചേത്രത്തിൽ ആദ്യ പ്രകടനം നടത്തിയപ്പോൾ[7]പത്മ ഭൂഷൺ ധൻവന്തി രാമ റാവു അവളെ ചൈൽഡ് പ്രോഡിജി എന്ന് വിളിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി.[8][9] ഭരതനാട്യം, കുച്ചിപുടി നർത്തകി എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ ഷീല കഴിവ് പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.[10] വീണ സംഗീതോപകരണവും വായിച്ചു. ഒരു കലാകാരിയെന്ന നിലയിൽ രണ്ട് പതിറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെക്കാലം,[11] ഭരതനാട്യം [12], കുച്ചിപുടി എന്നിവയുടെ നർത്തകിയായി അവർ പ്രകടനങ്ങൾ നടത്തി.[13]ക്ലാസിക്കൽ ആർട്‌സിൽ കൂടുതൽ അവസരങ്ങൾ ലഭിക്കാനും ഭരതനാട്യത്തിൽ ശ്രീ ദണ്ഡായുധ പാനി പിള്ളയിൽ നിന്ന് പരിശീലനം നേടാനും അവരുടെ കുടുംബം ചെന്നൈയിലേക്ക് മാറി. അവർ ഡോ. വെമ്പതി ചിന്ന സത്യത്തിന്റെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിനിയായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ നിരവധി നൃത്ത നാടകങ്ങളിലെ നായികയായിരുന്നു.[14]ഭരതനാട്യം, കുച്ചിപുടി, വീണ, ക്ലാസിക്കൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ സംഗീതം, പെയിന്റിംഗ്, ശിൽപം എന്നിവ അവർ അഭ്യസിച്ചു.[15]

വീണ കലാകാരിയെന്ന നിലയിൽ വീണാ സംഗീതജ്ഞൻ ചിട്ടി ബാബുവിനൊപ്പം രാധ മാധവവും ശിവലീല വിലാസവും അഭിനയിക്കുകയും രചിക്കുകയും റെക്കോർഡുചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്തു.[16][17][18]

വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം[തിരുത്തുക]

അന്ന യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി സ്കൂൾ ഓഫ് ആർക്കിടെക്ചർ ആന്റ് പ്ലാനിംഗിൽ വാസ്തുവിദ്യ പഠിച്ച അവർ ഹാർവാർഡ് ഗ്രാജുവേറ്റ് സ്കൂൾ ഓഫ് ഡിസൈനിന്റെ എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് എഡ്യൂക്കേഷൻ പ്രോഗ്രാമിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു.[19]

ചെന്നൈയിലെ റോസറി മെട്രിക്കുലേഷൻ സ്കൂളിൽ ചേർന്ന അവർ ചെന്നൈയിലെ സ്റ്റെല്ല മാരിസ് കോളേജിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രീ-യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി ബിരുദം നേടി. 1973-ൽ അന്ന യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി സ്കൂൾ ഓഫ് ആർക്കിടെക്ചർ ആന്റ് പ്ലാനിംഗിൽ നിന്ന് ബാച്ചിലേഴ്സ് ഇൻ ആർക്കിടെക്ചറിൽ ചേർന്നു, ഈ രംഗത്ത് സ്ത്രീകൾക്കെതിരെ ശക്തമായ പക്ഷപാതമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.[20]

വാസ്തുവിദ്യ[തിരുത്തുക]

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പ്രമുഖ ആർക്കിടെക്റ്റുകളിലൊരാളായി അവർ കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു[21] 1200 ലധികം വാസ്തുവിദ്യാ പദ്ധതികൾ രൂപകൽപ്പന ചെയ്യുകയും പൂർത്തീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും സ്വാധീനമുള്ള വനിതാ വാസ്തുശില്പികളിൽ ഒരാളായി അവർ കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു, [22]അവയിൽ പലതും പ്രാദേശിക കലകൾ, സംസ്കാരം, പൈതൃകം എന്നിവ അവരുടെ ഡിസൈനുകൾക്ക് പ്രചോദനമായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.[23][24] റെസിപ്രോസിറ്റി ഇൻ ഡിസൈനിന് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള വാസ്തുവിദ്യാ സിദ്ധാന്തങ്ങൾക്ക് അവർ പ്രശസ്തയാണ്.[25] 1987-ൽ ലോകബാങ്കിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ക്ഷണപ്രകാരം അവർ രൂപകൽപ്പന ചെയ്ത സാമൂഹിക-സാമ്പത്തികമായി പിന്നോക്കം നിൽക്കുന്നവർക്കുള്ള [26][27][28]കുറഞ്ഞ ചെലവിലുള്ള റെസിപ്രോക്കൽ ഹൗസ് മുതൽ ഊർജ്ജ കാര്യക്ഷമമായ വാണിജ്യ കെട്ടിടങ്ങൾ, കസ്റ്റം ബംഗ്ലാവുകൾ, റെസിഡൻഷ്യൽ കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റികൾ, സംയോജിത ടൗൺഷിപ്പുകൾ, വ്യാവസായിക സൗകര്യങ്ങൾ, ആർട്ട് മ്യൂസിയങ്ങൾ, സ്പോർട്സ് സ്റ്റേഡിയങ്ങൾ, വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ, പൊതു ഇൻഫ്രാസ്ട്രക്ചർ, ആഢംബര ഹോട്ടലുകൾ എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.[29][30] ഉയർന്ന സാന്ദ്രതയിൽ അതിവേഗം വികസിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന സമ്പദ്‌വ്യവസ്ഥകളിൽ അവരുടെ ഗവേഷണ കണ്ടെത്തലുകൾ പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും പ്രസക്തമാണ്.[31]സ്‌പേഷ്യോളജിയിലെ അവരുടെ ജോലി, [32][33] പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും ആരോഗ്യസംരക്ഷണം [34] വിശ്രമം, ക്ഷേമം, ഹോസ്പിറ്റാലിറ്റി വ്യവസായം എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് ഇത് ബാധകമാണ്,[35] നഗര രൂപകൽപ്പന, വാസ്തുവിദ്യ, സാമൂഹ്യശാസ്ത്രം എന്നിവയിലൂടെ മനുഷ്യന്റെ പെരുമാറ്റത്തിൽ അന്തർനിർമ്മിതമായ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിന്റെ സ്വാധീനം പരിശോധിക്കുന്നു.[36][37]
