തെക്കനേഷ്യ, തെക്കുകിഴക്കേഷ്യ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ തദ്ദേശവാസിയായ ഒരുതരം ആൽമരമാണ് ശീമയാൽ. (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Ficus elastica). rubber fig, rubber bush, rubber tree, rubber plant, Indian rubber bush, Indian rubber tree എന്നെല്ലാം പേരുകളുണ്ട്. ശ്രീലങ്ക, വെസ്റ്റ് ഇൻഡീസ്, ഫ്ലോറിഡ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലൊക്കെ ഇത് സ്വാഭാവികമായപോലെവളരുന്നുണ്ട്.
