തമിഴ് സിനിമ മേഖലയിലെ പ്രധാന നടനും നിർമ്മാതാവും ഗാനരചയിതാവുമാണ് മക്കൾ സെൽവൻ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന വിജയ് സേതുപതി.[2] വിജയ് സിനിമ ജീവിതത്തിന് മുമ്പ് ഒരു അക്കൗണ്ടന്റ് ആയിട്ട് ജോലി ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു.സിനിമയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം ആദ്യം ചെറിയ സപ്പോർട്ടിങ് റോളുകൾ ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. അഞ്ച് വർഷത്തോളം അദ്ദേഹം ചെറിയ റോളുകളിൽ വന്നു.[3] സീനു രാമസമിയുടെ തെന്മേർക് പരുവകട്രിന് (2010) ആണ് വിജയുടെ ആദ്യ നായകനായുള്ള സിനിമ. പിന്നീട് സുന്തരപന്ത്യൻ (2012) എന്ന സിനിമയിൽ വില്ലൻ കഥാപാത്രം, പിസ്സ (2012) , നടുവിലെ കൊഞ്ചം പാകാത്ത (2012) എന്ന ചിത്രങ്ങളിൽ നായക വേഷം ലഭിച്ചു.[4] തുടർന്നുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സിനിമകൾ വൻവിജയവും കൂടാതെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ താര പദവി ഉയരുകയും ചെയ്തു. സൂന്ത് കവ്വും (2013), ഇദ്ധർകുതനെ അസൈപെട്ടെയ്‌ ബലകുമാര (2013), പണ്ണിയരും പദ്മിനിയും(2014), നാനും രൗഡി താൻ (2015), സേതുപതി,[5] കാതലും കടന്ത് പോകും (2016), ധർമ ദുരൈ (2016), കവൻ (2017), വിക്രം വേദ (2017), കറുപ്പൻ (2017), ചെക്ക ചിവന്ത വാനം (2018) , 96 (2018) എന്നി ചിത്രങ്ങൾ വൻവിജയം ആയി തീരുകയും വിജയ് സേതുപതി വിജയവും പ്രശസ്തിമുയുള്ള ഇന്ത്യൻ താരമായി തമിഴ് സിനിമയിൽ തിളങ്ങുന്നു ഇത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് മക്കൾ സെൽവൻ എന്ന പേര് സമ്മാനിച്ചു.[6][7][8]

ആദ്യകാലജീവിതം

1978 ജനുവരി 16 ന് ജനിച്ച വിജയ് സേതുപതി ആറാം ക്ലാസ് പഠനത്തിനായി ചെന്നൈയിലേക്ക് താമസം മാറുന്നതുവരെ രാജപാളയത്താണ് വളർന്നത്.[9] വടക്കൻ ചെന്നൈയിലെ എന്നൂരിലായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ താമസം. കോടമ്പാക്കത്തെ എംജിആർ ഹയർ സെക്കൻഡറി സ്കൂളിലും ലിറ്റിൽ ഏഞ്ചൽസ് ഹൈയർ സെക്കൻററി സ്കൂളുലുമായി അദ്ദേഹം വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ചെയ്തു.[9] സേതുപതിയുടെ വാക്കുകൾപ്രകാരം അദ്ദേഹം "സ്കൂൾതലം മുതൽ ശരാശരിയിൽ താഴെയുള്ള ഒരു വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയായിരുന്നു", കൂടാതെ കായികരംഗത്തോ  പാഠ്യേതര വിഷയങ്ങളിലോ യാതൊരു താൽപ്പര്യമില്ലാത്ത വ്യക്തിയുമായിരുന്നു.[10] 16-ആം വയസ്സിൽ, നമ്മവർ (1994) എന്ന സിനിമയിലെ ഒരു വേഷത്തിനായി അദ്ദേഹം പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവെങ്കിലും, ഉയരക്കുറവിനാൽ ഈ വേഷം നിരസിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[11]

നിത്യജീവിതത്തിനായി റീട്ടെയിൽ സ്റ്റോറിലെ സെയിൽസ്മാൻ, ഫാസ്റ്റ് ഫുഡ് ശൃംഖലയിലെ കാഷ്യർ, ഒരു ഫോൺ ബൂത്ത് ഓപ്പറേറ്റർ എന്നിങ്ങനെ സേതുപതി പലതരം ജോലികൾ ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.[9] തോറൈപക്കത്തെ ധനരാജ് ബൈദ് ജെയിൻ കോളേജിൽ (മദ്രാസ് സർവകലാശാലയുടെ അഫിലിയേറ്റ്) നിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം കൊമേഴ്‌സ് ബിരുദം നേടി.[10] കോളേജ് പഠനം കഴിഞ്ഞ് ഒരാഴ്ച കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ഒരു സിമൻറ് മൊത്ത വ്യാപാരശാലയിൽ അക്കൗണ്ട് അസിസ്റ്റന്റായി ജോലിയ്ക്ക് ചേർന്നു.[9] മൂന്ന് സഹോദരങ്ങളെ പരിപാലിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നതും കൂടാതെ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതിനേക്കാൾ നാലിരട്ടി കൂടുതൽ പ്രതിഫലം ലഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നതിനാൽ , അദ്ദേഹം യുണൈറ്റഡ് അറബ് എമിറേറ്റിലെ ദുബായിലേക്ക് അക്കൗണ്ടന്റായി ജോലിയ്ക്ക് ചേർന്നു.  ദുബായിൽ ആയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ ഭാവി ഭാര്യയും മലയാളിയുമായ ജെസ്സിയെ ഓൺലൈനിൽ കണ്ടുമുട്ടുകയും 2003 ൽ വിവാഹിതരാകുകയും ചെയ്തു.[9][12]

ദുബായിലെ ജോലിയിൽ അസന്തുഷ്ടനായ അദ്ദേഹം 2003-ൽ ഇന്ത്യയിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.[13][14] സുഹൃത്തുക്കളുമൊത്ത് ഇന്റീരിയർ ഡെക്കറേഷൻ ബിസിനസിൽ കുറച്ചുകാലം പ്രവർത്തിച്ച ശേഷം, റെഡിമെയ്ഡ് അടുക്കളകൾ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു മാർക്കറ്റിംഗ് കമ്പനിയിൽ ജോലിയ്ക്ക് ചേർന്നു.[9] "വളരെ ഫോട്ടോജെനിക് ആയ മുഖം"[13] ഉണ്ടെന്ന് സംവിധായകൻ ബാലു മഹേന്ദ്ര പരാമർശിച്ചത് അദ്ദേഹം അനുസ്മരിക്കുകയും അഭിനയ ജീവിതം തുടരാൻ ഇത് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുവെങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹം ഒരിക്കലും തന്റെ സിനിമകളിൽ സേതുപതിയെ കാസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തില്ല.[15]

വ്യക്തിജീവിതം

സേതുപതിക്ക് ഒരു ജ്യേഷ്ഠൻ, ഒരു ഇളയ സഹോദരൻ, ഒരു അനുജത്തി എന്നിങ്ങനെ മൂന്ന് സഹോദരങ്ങളുണ്ട്.[9] 2003ൽ ദുബായിൽ വച്ച് ഓൺലൈനിൽ പരിചയപ്പെട്ട കാമുകി ജെസ്സിയെ അദ്ദേഹം വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു.[9] മകൻ സൂര്യയും മകൾ ശ്രീജയും ഉൾപ്പെടെ അവർക്ക് രണ്ട് കുട്ടികളുണ്ട്.[16] സ്‌കൂൾ പഠനകാലത്ത് മരണമടഞ്ഞ സുഹൃത്തിന്റെ സ്മരണാർത്ഥമാണ് അദ്ദേഹം മകന് സൂര്യ എന്ന് പേരിട്ടത്. നാനും റൗഡി താൻ (2015) എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ സേതുപതിയുടെ ചെറുപ്പകാലത്തെ വേഷത്തിലൂടെ സൂര്യ അഭിനയ അരങ്ങേറ്റം നടത്തി.[17] സിന്ധുബാദ് (2019) എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെ സൂര്യ അച്ഛനൊപ്പം വീണ്ടും പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു.[18]
