ഇന്ത്യയിലെ തദ്ദേശവാസിയായ ചെറിയ ഒരു കുറ്റിച്ചെടിയാണ് വാതംകൊല്ലി.(ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Justicia gendarussa). ആസ്ത്മയ്ക്കും, വാതത്തിനും ചില ചെറിയ കുട്ടികളിൽ കാണുന്ന അനിയന്ത്രിതമായ കരച്ചിലിനുമെല്ലാം ഇത് ഔഷധമായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചു വരുന്നു.[1] പുരുഷന്മാരിൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കാവുന്ന ഒരു ഗർഭനിരോധന ഔഷധം ഈ ചെടിയിൽ നിന്നും വേർതിരിച്ചെടുക്കുന്ന ഗവേഷണങ്ങൾ അന്തിമഘട്ടത്തിലാണ്.[2][3][4]
