51°31′09″N 00°07′13″W / 51.51917°N 0.12028°W 2013 മുതൽ ചാമ്പ്യനായി നില്ക്കുന്ന മാഗ്നസ് കാൾസണും ഫാബിയാനോ കരുവാനായും തമ്മിൽ നടന്ന ലോക ചെസ്സ് ചാമ്പ്യനെ കണ്ടെത്താനുള്ള മത്സരമാണ് ലോക ചെസ്സ് ചാമ്പ്യൻഷിപ്പ്. 2018 നവംബർ 9-നും നവംബർ 28-നുമിടയിൽ, ലണ്ടനിലെ ഹോൾബോണിലെ കോളേജിൽ വെച്ച് ഫിഡെയും അതിന്റെ വാണിജ്യ പങ്കാളിയായ എഗണും കൂടി സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച 12 കളികളുടെ മത്സരമാണിത്[2][3]
മത്സരത്തിന്റെ ക്ലാസ്സിക്കൽ സമയനിയന്ത്രണരീതിയിലുള്ള ഭാഗം തുടർച്ചയായ 12 സമനിലകളിൽ അവസാനിക്കുകയും ലോക ചെസ്സ് ചാമ്പ്യൻഷിപ്പിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ആദ്യമായി എല്ലാ ക്ലാസ്സിക്കൽ ഗെയിമുകളും സമനിലയിൽ അവസാനിച്ചു.[4] നവംബർ 28-നു് ടൈ ബ്രേക്കറായി റാപിഡ് ചെസ്സ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചു; കാൾസൺ തുടർച്ചയായ മൂന്നു ഗെയിമുകൾ വിജയിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് തന്റെ ചാമ്പ്യൻപട്ടം നിലനിർത്തി.
