സ്ലൊവീന്യയുടെ തലസ്ഥാനമാണ് ലുബ്ലിയാന(Ljubljana (pronounced [ljuˈbljàːna] ⓘ,[4] പ്രാദേശികമായി ലുബ്ലാന എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു [luˈblàːna];) സ്ലൊവീന്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരവുമാണിത്.[5][6] പൗരാണികകാലത്ത് എമോണ(Emona) എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന റോമൻ നഗരമായിരുന്നു .[7] മധ്യകാലഘട്ടം മുതൽ, 1918-ൽ ഓസ്ട്രിയ-ഹംഗറിയുടെ പതനം വരെ ഹബ്സ്ബർഗ് രാജവംശത്തിന്റെ ഭരണത്തിൽകീഴിലായിരുന്നു ഈ നഗരം.
ലുബ്ലിയാന സമുദ്രനിരപ്പിൽനിന്നും 295 മീറ്റർ (968 അടി) ഉയരത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.[1]
