കാർട്‌വേലിയൻ ഭാഷകൾ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വംശീയ ജനവിഭാഗമാണ് ലാസ് ജനങ്ങൾ.[7] തുർക്കിയുടെ ജോർജിയയുടെയും സമീപത്ത് കരിങ്കടൽ തീരത്താണ് ഈ ജനവിഭാഗം അധികമായും വസിക്കുന്നത്. 45,000 മുതൽ 1.6 ദശലക്ഷം വരെയാണ് ഇവരുടെ ജനസംഖ്യ കണക്കാക്കുന്നത്. തുർക്കിയുടെ വടക്കുകിഴക്കൻ ഭാഗത്താണ് ലാസ് ജനങ്ങൾ കൂടുതലായി താമസിക്കുന്നത്.[8] ലാസ് ഭാഷയാണ് ഇവർ സംസാരിക്കുന്നത്. കാർട്‌വേലിയൻ ഭാഷ കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ട ഭാഷയാണ് ലാസ്.[9][10] വംശനാശ ഭീഷണി നേരിട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഭാഷകളുടെ ഗണത്തിലാണ് യുനെസ്‌കോ ലാസ് ഭാഷയെ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. 2001ലെ സെൻസസ് പ്രകാരം 130,000 മുതൽ 150,000 വരെ ജനങ്ങൾ ഈ ഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്നാണ് കണക്ക്.[11]
