കിഴക്കൻ ആസ്ത്രേലിയയിലെ ന്യൂ സൗത്ത് വെയിൽസിലുള്ള സതർലാന്റ് ഷയറിൽ, സിഡ്നിക്കു തെക്കായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ദേശീയോദ്യാനമാണ് റോയൽ ദേശീയോദ്യാനം (ഗ്രാമ്യഭാഷയിൽ നാഷോ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ദി റോയൽ[2] ). ലോഫ്റ്റസ്, ഓറ്റ്ഫോർഡ്, വാട്ടർഫാൾ എന്നീ പ്രദേശങ്ങൾക്കു സമീപത്തായി, സിഡ്നിയിൽ നിന്നും ഏകദേശം 29 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലത്തായുള്ള ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനം 151 [3]ചതുരശ്രകിലോമീറ്റർ പ്രദേശത്തായി വ്യാപിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്നു.
ലോകത്തിലെ തന്നെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ ദേശീയോദ്യാനവും പേരിനോടൊപ്പം ദേശീയോദ്യാനം എന്നുള്ള ആദ്യത്തേതുമാണ് ഇത്. ന്യൂ സൗത്ത് വെയിൽസിന്റെ താത്ക്കാലിക തലവനായിരുന്ന സർ ജോൺ റോബർട്ട്സണാണ് ഇത് ആരംഭിച്ചത്. [4] 1879 ഏപ്രിൽ 26 ന് ഇത് ഔപചാരികമായി വിജ്ഞാപനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു. [5] ഇതിന്റെ യഥാർത്ഥ നാമം ദേശീയോദ്യാനം എന്നായിരുന്നു എന്നാൽ 1954 ടൂറിന്റെ കാലയളവിൽ ആസ്ത്രേലിയയിലെ രാജ്ഞിയായിരുന്ന എലിസബത്ത് II, ട്രെയിനിൽ ഇതുവഴി കടന്നുപോയപ്പോൾ 1955 ൽ ഇതിനെ പുനർനാമകരണം ചെയ്തു. [6]
2006 ഡിസംബറിൽ ആസ്ത്രേലിയൻ നാഷനൽ ഹെറിറ്റേജ് ലിസ്റ്റിൽ ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനത്തെ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തി. [4]
