ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ തത്ത്വചിന്തകനായിരുന്നു റോബെർട്ട് നോസിക്ക് (/ˈnoʊzɪk/; നവംബർ 16, 1938 – ജനുവരി 23, 2002). ഹാർവാഡ് സർവകലാശാലയിലെ അധ്യാപകനായി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിക്കുകുയും,^[4] അമേരിക്കൻ ഫിലോസഫിക്കൽ അസോസിയേഷന്റെ പ്രസിഡന്റായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. ജോൺ റൗൾസിന്റെ എ തിയറി ഓഫ് ജസ്റ്റിസ് (1971) എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തെ വിമർശനവിധേയമാക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് രചിച്ച അനാർക്ക്, സ്റ്റേറ്റ് ആന്റ് ഉട്ടോപ്യ (1974) എന്ന പുസ്തകമാണ് നോസിക്കിന്റെ പ്രശസ്തമായ രചന. ഭരണകൂടത്തിന് സാധ്യമായ ഒറ്റ മാർഗത്തെ പ്രതിപാദിക്കുന്ന മിനിമൽ സ്റ്റേറ്റ് എന്ന ആശയം നോസിക്ക് നിർദേശിക്കുന്നതും ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിലാണ്. ^[5]
