ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ അക്കാദമിക്, ആക്ടിവിസ്റ്റ്, എഴുത്തുകാരി എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ പ്രശസ്തയായ വനിതയാണ് റൂത്ത് വനിത. ലിംഗ, ലൈംഗിക പഠനങ്ങളിലാണ് റുത്ത് പ്രധാനമായും ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചത്. ബ്രിട്ടീഷ്, ഇന്ത്യൻ സാഹിത്യ ചരിത്രത്തിലും റുത്ത് വൈദഗ്ദ്ധ്യം നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഹിന്ദു തത്ത്വചിന്തയെക്കുറിച്ച് അവർ പഠിപ്പിക്കുകയും എഴുതുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
ആദ്യകാല ജീവിതവും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും

ഔദ്യോഗിക ജീവിതം
[തിരുത്തുക]1994 മുതൽ 1997 വരെ ഡൽഹി സർവകലാശാലയിലെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് വിഭാഗത്തിൽ റീഡറായിരുന്നു റുത്ത് വനിത.[1] നിലവിൽ മൊണ്ടാന സർവകലാശാലയിൽ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്, ലോക സംസ്കാരങ്ങളുടെ പ്രൊഫസറായ അവർ, അവിടെ തെക്ക്, തെക്കുകിഴക്കൻ ഏഷ്യൻ സ്റ്റഡീസുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പ്രോഗ്രാം നയിക്കുന്നു.[2]
1978ൽ ഡൽഹിയിൽ താമസിക്കുമ്പോൾ, അക്കാദമിക് ഗവേഷണവും താഴേത്തട്ടിൽ നിന്നുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനവും സംയോജിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ജേണലായ 'മാനുഷിഃ എ ജേണൽ എബൌട്ട് വിമൻ ആൻഡ് സൊസൈറ്റി' വനിത സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. 1979 മുതൽ 1991 വരെ അവർ ഈ ജേണലിന്റെ ശമ്പളമില്ലാതെ, സന്നദ്ധപ്രവർത്തകയായ സഹ-എഡിറ്ററായി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു.[1]
