ഇന്ത്യൻ ആർമിയിലെ ഒരു പഴക്കമുള്ള റൈഫിൾ ആണു രാജ്പുത്താന റൈഫിൾസ്. 1921ൽ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഇന്ത്യൻ ആർമിയുടെ ഭാഗമായാണ് ഇത് ആരംഭിച്ചത്. 6 രജ്പുത്താന റൈഫിൾസിൽ മുൻപ് നിലവിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ആറു ബറ്റാലിയനുകളെ സംയോജിപ്പിച്ചാണ് ഇത് രൂപീകരിച്ചത്.
പേരിന് പിന്നിൽ
[തിരുത്തുക]ഒരു ഹിന്ദു ഗോത്രമായ രജ്പുത് എന്ന വാക്കിൽ നിന്നാണ് രജ്പുതാന റൈഫിൾസ് എന്ന പേര് ഉണ്ടായത്. രാജസ്ഥാന്റെ പഴയ പേരാണ് രജ്പുതാന എന്നത്. രജ്പുതാന എന്ന സംസ്കൃത പദത്തിന്റെ അർത്ഥം രാജ പുത്രൻ എന്നാണ്.
