ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ അഭിനേത്രിയാണ് മാളവിക മോഹനൻ (ജനനം: ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 4, 1993). പ്രധാനമായും തമിഴ്, മലയാള ചലച്ചിത്രങ്ങളിലാണ് അഭിനയിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഛായാഗ്രാഹകൻ കെ.യു. മോഹനന്റെ മകളായ അവർ പട്ടം പോലെ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെ നായികയായി അരങ്ങേറി.[1] 2017-ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ മജീദ് മജീദിയുടെ ബിയോണ്ട് ദി ക്ലൗഡ്‌സ് എന്ന ഹിന്ദി ചിത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വേഷം പ്രക്ഷകരുടെ പ്രശംസ പിടിച്ചുപറ്റി. അതിനുശേഷം മലയാളം ത്രില്ലർ സിനിമയായ ദി ഗ്രേറ്റ് ഫാദർ (2017), തമിഴ് ആക്ഷൻ ചിത്രങ്ങളായ പേട്ട (2019), മാസ്റ്റർ (2021) എന്നീ ചിത്രങ്ങളിൽ നായികയായി അഭിനയിച്ചു.

ആദ്യകാല ജീവിതം

ചലച്ചിത്ര ഛായാഗ്രാഹകനായ കെ. യു. മോഹനന്റെയും ബീനാ മോഹനന്റെയും മകളായി 1993 ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 4 ന് ജനിച്ചു.[2][3] അവർക്ക് ആദിത്യ മോഹനൻ എന്ന ഒരു സഹോദരനുണ്ട്. കണ്ണൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ പയ്യന്നൂരിലാണ് ജനിച്ചതെങ്കിലും[4] മാളവിക വളർന്നത് മുംബൈ നഗരത്തിലാണ്.[5] മുംബൈയിലെ വിൽസൺ കോളേജിൽ നിന്നും മാസ്സ് കമ്മ്യൂണിക്കേഷനിൽ ബിരുദമെടുത്തു. കോളേജ് പഠനകാലത്ത് പൂവാലശല്യത്തിനെതിരായി നടന്ന ‘’ചപ്പൽ മാരൂംഗി’’ കാമ്പയിനിൽ അംഗമായിരുന്നു.[6]

2013–2017: ആദ്യകാല പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ

മാളവിക മുംബൈയിലെ വിൽസൺ കോളേജിൽ നിന്ന് മാസ് മീഡിയയിൽ ബിരുദം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയശേഷം,[7][8] പിതാവിനേപ്പോലെ ഒരു ഛായാഗ്രാഹകൻ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ സംവിധായകൻ ആകണമെന്നാണ് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചത്. ബിരുദാനന്തരം, ഉന്നത പഠനം നടത്താൻ ആലോചിക്കുന്നതിനിടയിൽ, മമ്മൂട്ടി അഭിനയിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ഫെയർനെസ് ക്രീമിന്റെ ഒരു പരസ്യ ചിത്രീകരണത്തിന് പിതാവിനോടൊപ്പം പോയി. തുടർന്ന് മമ്മൂട്ടി മാളവികയുടെ അഭിനയ താൽപ്പര്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അന്വേഷിച്ച അദ്ദഹം തുടർന്ന് മകൻ ദുൽക്കർ സൽമാനൊപ്പം ഒരു മലയാള സിനിമയിലേയ്ക്ക് വേഷം വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തു.[9][10] പട്ടം പോലെ (2013) എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിൽ അഭിനയിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ഓഡിഷനിൽ വിജയിക്കുകയും ഷൂട്ടിംഗ് പുരോഗമിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തതോടെ അഭിനയ പ്രക്രിയയെക്കുറിച്ച് ക്രമേണ അവർ മനസിലാക്കി. ചിത്രത്തിലെ യഥാർത്ഥ വസ്ത്രാലങ്കാരകന്റെ അസുഖം കാരണം, അവർ ആ പ്രോജക്റ്റിനായി സ്വയം ഡിസൈനറായി ജോലി ചെയ്തു.[11][12][13] ഒരു തമിഴ് ബ്രാഹ്മണ യുവാവും ഒരു ക്രിസ്ത്യൻ പെൺകുട്ടിയും തമ്മിലുള്ള ബന്ധം അനാവരണം ചെയ്ത ഈ റൊമാന്റിക് ഡ്രാമ ചിത്രത്തിന് സമ്മിശ്ര പ്രതികരണമാണ് ലഭിച്ചതെങ്കിലും ബോക്സ് ഓഫീസിൽ മികച്ച പ്രകടനം കാഴ്ചവയ്ക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. മാളവികയുടെ "പെപ്പി ഗേൾ ആക്ട് പൂർണതയുള്ളതല്ലെങ്കിലും വാഗ്ദാനങ്ങൾ നിറഞ്ഞതാണ്" എന്ന് Rediff.com-ലെ ഒരു നിരൂപകൻ അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ ടൈംസ് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ നിരൂപകർ അവർ "മാന്യമായ ജോലി" ചെയ്തുവെന്ന് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.[14][15] ഈ കാലയളവിൽ, ഫാഷനിൽ താൽപ്പര്യം തുടർന്ന അവർ, "ദി സ്കാർലറ്റ് വിൻഡോ" എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ എത്‌നിക് ഫ്യൂഷൻ ഫാഷൻ ബ്ലോഗ് സ്ഥാപിച്ചു.[16][17]

2013-ൽ ഛായാഗ്രാഹകനായ അഴഗപ്പന്റെ ആദ്യ സംവിധാന സംരംഭമായ പട്ടം പോലെ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിൽ ദുൽക്കർ സൽമാന്റെ നായികയായിട്ടായിരുന്നു തുടക്കം. [18][19] തുടർന്ന് നിർണ്ണായകം (2015) എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിൽ ആസിഫ് അലിയുടെ നായികയായി. ഈ ചിത്രത്തിൽ ഒരു ബാലെ നർത്തകിയുടെ വേഷം അവതരിപ്പിക്കുകയും നല്ല അവലോകനങ്ങൾ നേടുകയും ചെയ്തുവെങ്കിലും, ചിത്രത്തിന് വാണിജ്യപരമായി തണുത്ത പ്രതികരണമാണ് ലഭിച്ചത്.[20] സിഫിയിലെ ഒരു നിരൂപകൻ എഴുതി, "സുന്ദരിയായി കാണപ്പെടുക എന്നതല്ലാതെ അവർക്ക് ചിത്രത്തിൽ മറ്റൊന്നും ചെയ്യാനില്ലായിരുന്നു".[21] എന്നാൽ ഈ ചിത്രത്തിലെ അഭിനയത്തിന് ജേസി അവാർഡിന്റെ പ്രത്യേക ജൂറി പുരസ്ക്കാരം ലഭിച്ചു. [22][23][24] ഹീറോ ഹോണ്ടാ, മാതൃഭൂമി യാത്ര തുടങ്ങിയവയുടെ പരസ്യചിത്രങ്ങളിലും ഇക്കാലത്ത് അഭിനയിച്ചു. പ്രശസ്ത ഇറാനിയൻ ചലച്ചിത്രസംവിധായകനായ മജീദ് മജീദിയുടെ ആദ്യ ഇന്ത്യൻ ചലച്ചിത്രമായ ‘’ബിയോണ്ട് ദ ക്ലൗഡ്സ്’’ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിൽ നായികയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[25] ഈ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ മറ്റൊരു ചിത്രമായ 'നാളെ'യിൽ ഫഹദ് ഫാസിലിന്റെ നായികയായി ഒരു ആദിവാസി പെൺകുട്ടിയെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു, പക്ഷേ പിന്നീട് സിനിമയുടെ നിർമ്മാണം പാതിവഴിയിൽ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.[26] 2016-ൽ മാളവിക തന്റെ ആദ്യ കന്നഡ ചിത്രമായ നാനു മട്ടു വരലക്ഷ്മി (2016) എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിൽ നവാഗതനായ പൃഥ്വി എന്ന നടനൊപ്പം അഭിനയിച്ചു.[27] ബോക്സ് ഓഫീസിൽ വിജയം നേടിയില്ലെങ്കിലും, ചിത്രം പ്രേക്ഷകരിൽനിന്ന് നല്ല അഭിപ്രായം നേടുകയും, മാളവികയുടെ വരലക്ഷ്മി എന്ന ടൈറ്റിൽ കഥാപാത്രം നിരൂപകരുടെ പ്രശംസ പിടിച്ചുപറ്റുകയും ചെയ്തു.[28][29] തുടർന്ന് ക്രൈം ത്രില്ലർ ചിത്രമായ ദി ഗ്രേറ്റ് ഫാദറിൽ (2017) ഒരു പോലീസ് ഓഫീസറുടെ വേഷം ലഭിച്ച അവർ മമ്മൂട്ടി, ആര്യ, സ്നേഹ എന്നിവരുൾപ്പെടെ ഒരു കൂട്ടം മികച്ച തരാങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം അഭിനയിച്ചു.[30][31] മികച്ച അവലോകനങ്ങൾ നേടിയ ഈ ചിത്രം, ബോക്സ് ഓഫീസിൽ മികച്ച പ്രകടനം കാഴ്ചവച്ചു.[32][33][34]

ഒരു നടിയെന്ന നിലയിൽ മാളവികയുടെ അഭിനയജീവിതത്തിൽ വഴിത്തിരിവായത് ഹിന്ദിയിലെ അരങ്ങേറ്റ ചിത്രമായ മജിദ് മജീദിയുടെ ബിയോണ്ട് ദ ക്ലൗഡ്‌സ് (2017) ആണ്. മുംബൈയിലെ ധോബി ഘട്ട് പ്രദേശത്തെ താര എന്ന പാവപ്പെട്ട പെൺകുട്ടിയായി അവർ ഈ ചിത്രത്തിൽ അഭിനയിച്ചു.[35][36] ഓഡിഷനിൽ വിജയിച്ചതിനെത്തുടർന്ന്, ദീപിക പദുക്കോണിനെയും കങ്കണ റണാവത്തിനെയും മറികടന്ന് മജീദി അവരെ ആ വേഷത്തിനായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. അതിൽ നവാഗതനായ ഇഷാൻ ഖട്ടറിന്റെ മൂത്ത സഹോദരിയുടെ വേഷമാണ് അവർ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചത്.[37][38][39] തന്റെ കരിയറിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തിൽ പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് ബിരുദ പഠനകാലത്ത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സിനിമകളെക്കുറിച്ച് പതിവായി പഠിക്കുകയും ഉപന്യാസങ്ങൾ എഴുതുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടി വന്നതിനാൽ മജീദിക്കൊപ്പം പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞതിൽ അവർ സന്തോഷം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.[40] ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഒരു ജയിൽ രംഗത്തിനായി പതിനഞ്ച് ദിവസത്തിനുള്ളിൽ അവർ എട്ട് കിലോഗ്രാം ഭാരം കുറയ്ക്കുകയും ചേരി നിവാസിയുടെ ലുക്ക് കൃത്യമായി ലഭിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി പല ദിവസത്തേക്ക് മുടി കഴുകാതിരിക്കാനും അവർ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.[41][42] 2018 ഏപ്രിലിൽ ലോകമെമ്പാടും റിലീസ് ചെയ്യുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് ഈ ചിത്രം നിരവധി അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലച്ചിത്രോത്സവങ്ങളിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചു. മാളവികയുടെ അഭിനയത്തിന് മികച്ച അവലോകനങ്ങൾ ലഭിച്ചു, ഫിലിംഫെയറിന്റെ നിരൂപകൻ "ക്യാമറയ്ക്ക് മുന്നിൽ മാളവിക മോഹനൻ കഥാപാത്രത്തിന് അനുസരിച്ച ഒരു സ്വാഭാവിക സ്ത്രീയാണ്" എന്ന് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.[43]

പിന്നീട് മാളവിക മൂന്ന് തമിഴ് ഭാഷാ ചിത്രങ്ങളിൽ അഭിനയിച്ചു. കാർത്തിക് സുബ്ബരാജിന്റെ പേട്ട (2019) ആയിരുന്നു അവരുടെ തമിഴിലെ അരങ്ങേറ്റ ചിത്രം. ഇതിൽ രജനീകാന്ത്, വിജയ് സേതുപതി, നവാസുദ്ദീൻ സിദ്ദിഖി എന്നിവരുൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള ഒരു കൂട്ടം അഭിനേതാക്കളോടൊപ്പം അവർ അഭിനയിച്ചു. തന്റെ തമിഴ് വരികൾ പരിശീലിക്കാൻ സഹായിക്കുന്നതിനായി അവൾ തമിഴ് സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ട്യൂട്ടറെ നിയമിച്ചിരുന്നു.[44][45] തുടർന്ന് അവർ വിജയ്‌ക്കൊപ്പം മാസ്റ്റർ (2021) എന്ന തമിഴ് ആക്ഷൻ ത്രില്ലർ ചിത്രത്തിൽ ചാരുലത എന്ന കോളേജ് അധ്യാപികയുടെ വേഷം ചെയ്തു. ആ ചിത്രം വാണിജ്യപരമായി വിജയിച്ചതൊടൊപ്പം, മാളവികയുടെ കരിയറിലെ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ കളക്ഷൻ നേടിയ ചിത്രമായി മാറുകയും ചെയ്തു.[46][47] 2022-ൽ ധനുഷിനൊപ്പം മാരൻ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിൽ അവർ അഭിനയിച്ചു. ഡിസ്നി+ ഹോട്ട്സ്റ്റാറിൽ നേരിട്ട് റിലീസ് ചെയ്ത ഈ ചിത്രം നിരൂപകരിൽ നിന്നും പ്രേക്ഷകരിൽ നിന്നും നെഗറ്റീവ് അവലോകനങ്ങളാണ് നേടിയത്.

മാളവികയുടെ 2023-ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ഒരേയൊരു മലയാളം ചിത്രം റൊമാന്റിക് നാടകീയ ചിത്രമായ ക്രിസ്റ്റി ആയിരുന്നു . വിക്രം നായകനായ പാ. രഞ്ജിത്തിന്റെ തമിഴ് ചിത്രം തങ്കളാൻ ആയിരുന്നു അവരുടെ അടുത്ത റിലീസ്. 2024 ജനുവരിയിൽ പൊങ്കലിന് റിലീസ് ചെയ്യാൻ ആദ്യം തീരുമാനിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിലും[48] സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യദിനത്തിനായി ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 15 ലേക്ക് മാറ്റിവച്ചു.[49] 2024 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 20-ന് റിലീസ് ചെയ്യാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന സിദ്ധാന്ത് ചതുർവേദിക്കൊപ്പം അഭിനയിക്കുന്ന ഹിന്ദി ആക്ഷൻ ത്രില്ലർ ചിത്രമാണ് അവരുടെ അടുത്ത റിലീസ്.[50] പ്രഭാസ് നായകനാകുന്ന ദി രാജാ സാബ് എന്ന ഹൊറർ കോമഡി ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെ തെലുങ്കിൽ അരങ്ങേറ്റം കുറിക്കാനും അവർ ഒരുങ്ങുന്നു.[51]
