മരുക്കൊക്കിന്റെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലെ പേര് MacQueen's bustard അഥവാ Asian Houbara എന്നാണ്. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Chlamydotis macqueenii എന്നാണ്.[2] [3][4][5]
വിവരണം
[തിരുത്തുക]നീളം 55-65 സെ.മീ. ഉണ്ടാവും. തവിട്ടു നിറം മുകളിലും വെള്ള അടിയിലുമാണ്. കഴുത്തിന്റെ വശങ്ങളിൽ താഴേക്ക് കറുത്ത വരകളുണ്ട്. ആണും പെണ്ണും കാഴ്ചക്ക് ഒരു പോലെയാണ്. പെണ്ണിന് വലിപ്പം കുറയും. [6] തൂക്കം 1.15- 2.4 കി.ഗ്രാം വര കാണും. [7] മിശ്രഭുക്കാണ്. വിത്തുകളും പ്രാണികളും ചെറുജീവികളുമാണ് ഭക്ഷണം.

പ്രജനനം
[തിരുത്തുക]മരുഭൂമികളിലും മണൽ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും പ്രജനന്ം നടത്തുന്നു. തലയിലേയും കഴുത്തിലേയും വെള്ള തൂവലുകൾ ഉയർത്തി തല പിന്നിലോട്ട് വലിച്ചാണ് മുട്ടയിടുന്ന കാലത്തെ അഭ്യാസ പ്രകടനം. 2-4 മുട്ടകളാണ് ഇടുന്നത്.
