ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കാടുകളിൽ കാണാവുന്ന ഒരു മരംകൊത്തിയാണ് മരംകൊത്തിച്ചിന്നൻ[2] [3][4][5] (Picumnus innominatus)(ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് :SpeckledPiculet) .ഇന്ത്യയെ കൂടാതെ ബംഗ്ലാദേശ്, ഭൂട്ടാൻ , ശ്രീലങ്ക, ചൈന, ഹോങ്‌കോങ്, ഇന്ത്യോനേഷ്യ, മലേഷ്യ, മ്യാൻമർ, നേപ്പാൾ, പാകിസ്താൻ, തായ്ലന്റ്, വിയറ്റ്നാം എന്നിവടങ്ങളിലും ഇവയെ കാണാം.

വിവരണം

ആൺ പക്ഷികളും പെൺ പക്ഷികളും ഏകദേശം ഒരുപോലെ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇവയ്ക്ക് ഒലിവ്-പച്ച നിറത്തിലുള്ള പുറം ഭാഗവും തലയുടെ വശങ്ങളിൽ രണ്ട് വെളുത്ത വരകളുമുണ്ട്. ആൺ പക്ഷിയുടെ മുൻവശത്ത് ഓറഞ്ചും തവിട്ടുനിറവും കാണാം. ഇവയ്ക്ക് താഴെ ക്രീം കലർന്ന വെളുത്ത നിറവും കറുത്ത പുള്ളികളുമുണ്ട്. കണ്ണുകൾക്ക് സമീപം ഒരു കടും പച്ച വരയുണ്ട്.[6]

ജോഡികളായി നീങ്ങുന്ന ഇവ സാധാരണയായി മരങ്ങളുടെ നേർത്ത ശാഖകളിൽ വിശ്രമിക്കുന്നു. ചിലപ്പോൾ ശാഖയിൽ നിന്ന് തലകീഴായി തൂങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നു. അവയുടെ പെരുമാറ്റം മരംകൊത്തികളുടേതിന് സമാനമാണ്.[7]

ഈ പക്ഷികൾക്ക് ഉറുമ്പുകളും ചിതലും അടങ്ങിയ ഭക്ഷണക്രമമുണ്ട്.[8][9]
