ഫെസന്റ് കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഇതാഗിനിസ് ജനുസ്സിലെ ഒരേയൊരു ഇനം ആണ് ബ്ലഡ് ഫെസന്റ് (Ithaginis cruentus). താരതമ്യേന ചെറുതും ഹ്രസ്വ-വാലുള്ളതുമായ ഈ ഫെസന്റ് ഇന്ത്യ, നേപ്പാൾ, ഭൂട്ടാൻ, ചൈന, വടക്കൻ മ്യാൻമർ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലും കിഴക്കൻ ഹിമാലയത്തിലും വ്യാപകമായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇവയുടെ എണ്ണം സാവധാനത്തിൽ കുറയുന്നതായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നതിനാൽ, 2009-ൽ ഈ ഇനത്തെ ഐ‌യു‌സി‌എൻ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തി.[2]
മുൻ സിക്കിം രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ ദേശീയ പക്ഷിയായിരുന്നു ബ്ലഡ് ഫെസന്റ്. [3] ഇപ്പോൾ സിക്കിമിന്റെ സംസ്ഥാന പക്ഷിയാണ്.[4]
