ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിനെതിരെ 1937ൽ നടന്ന മത്സരത്തിൽ ബ്രാഡ്മാൻ ബാറ്റു ചെയ്യാനായി പോകുന്നു, ഈ കളിയിൽ ബ്രാഡ്മാൻ 270 റൺസ് നേടി. എക്കാലത്തെയും മികച്ച ഇന്നിംഗ്‌സ് എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഇന്നിംഗ്‌സായിരുന്നു അത്.[1]

ഓസ്ട്രേലിയൻ ക്രിക്കറ്ററായ സർ ഡൊണാൾഡ് ബ്രാഡ്‌മാൻ എക്കാലത്തെയും മികച്ച ക്രിക്കറ്റർ എന്നാണറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്,[2][3][4] 1928 മുതൽ 1948 വരെയുള്ള തന്റെ ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ജീവിതത്തിൽ 29 ടെസ്റ്റ് സെഞ്ച്വറികൾ ബ്രാഡ്‌മാൻ നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.[൧] എന്നിരുന്നാലും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ജീവിതത്തിൽ 1940 മുതൽ 1946രണ്ടാം ലോക മഹായുദ്ധം മൂലവും ആരോഗ്യ കാരണങ്ങളാലും തടസ്സങ്ങൾ നേരിട്ടു.[5]. 1936–1937 സീസണിൽ ഓസ്ടേലിയൻ ടീമിന്റെ നായകനായിരുന്നു.[6] ക്യാപ്റ്റനായിരിക്കെയാണ്‌ ബ്രാഡ്‌മാൻ പതിനാൽ ടെസ്റ്റ് സെഞ്ച്വറികൾ നേടിയത്.[7] ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ തവണ ഇരട്ട സെഞ്ച്വറികൾ നേടിയിട്ടുള്ള ക്രിക്കറ്റർ എന്ന റിക്കോഡ് ഇപ്പോഴും ബ്രാഡ്‌മാന്റെ പേരിലാണ്‌.[8]. രണ്ട് തവണ ട്രിപ്പിൾ സെഞ്ച്വറി എന്ന നേട്ടം വീരേന്ദ്ര സേവാഗിനും ബ്രയൻ ലാറയ്ക്കും ഒപ്പം പങ്കിടുന്നു.[9] അദ്ദേഹം നേടിയ സെഞ്ച്വറികളിൽ പത്തൊൻപതെണ്ണവും ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിന്‌ എതിരെയായിരുന്നു. ഒരു ടീമിനെതിരെ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ തവണ സെഞ്ച്വറി നേട്ടം എന്ന ഈ റെക്കോഡ് ഇപ്പോഴും നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു.[10]

ബ്രാഡ്മാന്റെ ആദ്യ ടെസ്റ്റ് ട്രിപ്പിൾ സെഞ്ച്വറി നേടിയത് 1930 ലെ ആഷസ് പരമ്പരയിലായിരുന്നു, 334 റൺസാണ് അന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം നേടിയത്. 1930 ജൂലൈയിൽ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിനെതിരെ 309 റൺസും ബ്രാഡ്മാൻ നേടുകയുണ്ടായി, ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ കളിയിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ റൺസ് എന്ന ആ റിക്കോഡ് ഇപ്പോഴും നില നിൽക്കുന്നു.[11] 1933ൽ വാലി ഹാമണ്ട് 336 റൺസ് എടുക്കുന്നത് വരെ ബ്രാഡ്മാനായിരുന്നു ടെസ്റ്റ് ക്രിക്കറ്റിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയർന്ന വ്യക്തിഗിത സ്കോറിനുടമ.[12] 1930 ലെ അതേ പരമ്പരയിൽ ബ്രാഡ്മാൻ ഒരു സെഞ്ച്വറിയും രണ്ട് ഇരട്ട സെഞ്ച്വറികളും നേടുകയുണ്ടായി, 7 ഇന്നിംഗ്സിലുമായി മൊത്തം 974 റൺസാണ് ബ്രാഡ്മാൻ അടിച്ചുകൂട്ടിയത്, ഒരു സീരീസിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ റൺസ് എന്ന റിക്കോഡാണിത്.[13] 1937ൽ പനി ബാധിച്ച ബ്രാഡ്മാന് ഏഴാമതായി ആണ് ഇറങ്ങേണ്ടി വന്നത്, ആ കളിയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം 270 റൺസ് നേടുകയും ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിനെതിരെ ഓസ്ട്രേലിയയെ വിജയിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.[14] ക്രിക്കറ്റിലെ എക്കാലത്തേയും മികച്ച് ഇന്നിംഗ്സായാണ് വിസ്ഡന്റെ 2001ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ അൽമനാക്കിൽ ബ്രാഡ്മാന്റെ ഈ ഇന്നിം‌ഗ്‌സിനെ വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചത്.[1] ഏഴാമതായി ഇറങ്ങിയ ഒരു ബാറ്റ്സ്മാൻ നേടിയ ഏറ്റവും ഉയർന്ന സ്കോറാണിത് ഇപ്പോഴും. അതുപോലെ തന്നെ 1934ൽ അഞ്ചാമനായി ഇറങ്ങി ബ്രാഡ്മാൻ നേടിയ 304 റൺസും ഒരു റെക്കോഡാണ്.[15]

1948ൽ ബ്രാഡ്മാൻ വിരമിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്റെ പേരിൽ അദ്ദേഹം 80 ഇന്നിംഗ്സുകളിൽ നിന്നായി 29 സെഞ്ച്വറികൾ നേടി. അദ്ദേഹം നേടിയ 6,996 റൺസിൽ 5,393 റൺസും നേടിയത് സെഞ്ച്വറികളിൽ നിന്നുമാണ്.[16] കളിച്ച 36.25% ഇന്നിംഗ്സിലും സെഞ്ച്വറി നേടാൻ ബ്രാഡ്മാനായി.[17] ഇത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് തന്റെ ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ജീവിതത്തിൽ അതുല്യമായ 99.94 എന്ന ഒരു ബാറ്റിംഗ് ശരാശരി നേടികൊടുത്തു. മറ്റൊരു കളിക്കാരനും 61ൽ കൂടുതൽ നേടിയിട്ടില്ല.[൨] അവസാന ടെസ്റ്റിൽ 4 റൺസ് കൂടി നേടിയിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശരാശരി 100 റൺസാകുമായിരുന്നു.[18][19]
