ബസ്ര പ്രാപ്പിടിയന്റെ[2] [3][4][5] ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Accipiter virgatus എന്നും ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലെ പേര് Besra sparrow-hawk എന്നുമാണ്. തെക്കേ ഏഷ്യയിൽ ഇന്ത്യ, പാകിസ്താൻ, തെക്കൻ ചൈന, ഇന്തോനേഷ്യ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ കാണുന്നു.
