ബരുൺ ദേ
ഇന്ത്യൻ ചരിത്രകാരനായിരുന്ന ബരുൺ ദേ ആധുനിക ഭാരതത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രഗതികളെ സസൂക്ഷ്മം നിരീക്ഷിച്ച ഒരു പണ്ഡിതനാണ്.(ഒക്ടോ 30,1932–2013).പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് 17,18 നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളിലെ ഭാരതത്തിന്റെ സാമൂഹ്യ,സാമ്പത്തിക മേഖലകളിലെ ഗവേഷണമായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മുഖ്യ വിഷയം.[1] ബംഗാൾ നവോത്ഥാനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഭരണസംവിധാനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും അദ്ദേഹം ആഴത്തിൽ വിശകലനം ചെയ്യുകയുണ്ടായി.
വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം[തിരുത്തുക]
കൽക്കട്ട പ്രെസിഡെൻസി കോളേജിലും,ഓക്സ്ഫഡിലുമായി ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ബിരുദവും ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദവും പൂർത്തിയാക്കി.[2] പിന്നീട് കൽക്കട്ടാ സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ 1957 മുതൽ അദ്ധ്യാപകനായി സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു.[3] 1961 മുതൽ 1963 വരെ ബർദ്വാൻ സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ റീഡറായി. 1971 മുതൽ 1973 വരെ ഐ.ഐ.എം കൽക്കട്ടയിലെ ഉയർന്ന പദവിയിലുള്ള പ്രൊഫസ്സറായിരുന്നു. ഒട്ടേറെ സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ അദ്ധ്യാപകനായും, മറ്റു ഭരണച്ചുമതലകളും അദ്ദേഹം വഹിച്ചിരുന്നു.[4] യു.ജി.സി യിലെ വിശിഷ്ടാംഗത്വവും ഇതിൽപ്പെടും. ഏഷ്യാറ്റിക് സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റും ആയിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. മതേതര നിലപാടുകളിൽ ഉറച്ച് നിന്നിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം ഒരു മാർക്സിസ്റ്റ് ചരിത്രകാരനായിരുന്നു എന്നു ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.
