1970 കളിലെ സാൻ ഫ്രാൻസിസ്കോയിൽ, അന്ധനായി ജനിച്ച ഡോൺ ബേക്കർ (എഡ്വാർഡ് ആൽബർട്ട്) തന്റെ അമ്മയോടൊപ്പമാണ് (അമ്മ എയ്ക്കെൻ ഹെക്കാർട്ട്) ജീവിതകാലം മുഴുവൻ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ഡോൺ സ്വന്തമായി ഒരു അപ്പാർട്ട്മെന്റിലേക്ക് നീങ്ങുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഡോൺ എല്ലാം സ്വയം തനിയെ കണ്ടെത്താൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു. തന്റെ അമ്മ രണ്ടു മാസമെങ്കിലും കാണാൻ വരാതിരിക്കാൻ ഡോൺ ഒരു കരാർ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.
