ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഹോപ്‍കിൻസ് സ്മിത്ത് (ജീവിതകാലം : ഒക്ടോബർ 23, 1838 – ഏപ്രിൽ 7, 1915) ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ എഴുത്തുകാരനും ചിത്രകാരനും എൻജിനീയറുമായിരുന്നു. അമേരിക്കൻ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യപ്രതിമയുടെ അടിത്തറ നിർമ്മിച്ചത് അദ്ദേഹമായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം പ്രശസ്തമായ നിരവധി കഥകൾ രചിക്കുകയും ഒപ്പം അദ്ദേഹം വരച്ച ചിത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് അവാർഡുകൾ ലഭിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.

സ്മിത്ത് ജനിച്ചത്. മേരിലാൻറിലെ ബാൾട്ടിമോറിലായിരുന്നു. ഔദ്യോഗിക അമേരിക്കൻ പതാക ഡിസൈൻ ചെയ്യുകയും അമേരിക്കൻ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യപ്രഖ്യാപനരേഖയിൽ ഒപ്പുവച്ചവരിലൊരാളുമായ ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ഹോപ്കിൻസൻറെ അനന്തരഗാമിയുമായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. മേരിലാൻറിലെ ബോയിസ് ലാറ്റിൻ സ്കൂളിൽനിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ബിരുദപഠനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയിരുന്നു.
