ക്യാപ്റ്റൻ ഫ്രെഡറിക് മർയാറ്റ് (ജീവിതകാലം: 10 ജൂലൈ 1792 – 9 ആഗസ്റ്റ് 1848[1]) ഒരു ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് നേവി ഓഫീസറും നോവലിസ്റ്റുമായിരുന്നു. അതുപോലെ തന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം പ്രശസ്ത നോവലിസ്റ്റ് ചാൾസ് ഡക്കൻസിൻറെ പരിചയക്കാരനുമായിരുന്നു. ആദ്യകാലത്ത് കടൽ കഥകൾ കൂടുതലായി എഴുതിത്തുടങ്ങിയവരിൽ പ്രമുഖനായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. 1836 ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ "Mr Midshipman Easy" (1836) എന്ന നോവൽ ഭാഗികമായി ആത്മകഥാപരമായിരുന്നു. 1847 ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട കുട്ടികളുടെ നോവലായ "The Children of the New Forest" (1847),വൻ വിജയമായിരുന്നു.
