തെക്കേ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ഈസ്റ്റേൺ കേപ്പിലെ ആലീസ് നഗരത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു സർവ്വകലാശാലയാണ് ഫോർട്ട് ഹെയർ സർവ്വകലാശാല.

1916 മുതൽ 1959 വരെ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ കറുത്തവർഗ്ഗക്കാർക്ക് ഉന്നതവിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനായുള്ള പ്രധാന സ്ഥാപനമായിരുന്നു ഇത്. ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് പാശ്ചാത്യമാതൃകയിലുള്ള വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ഈ സർവ്വകലാശാല നൽകിയിരുന്നു. കറുത്ത ആഫ്രിക്കക്കാരെ ഉന്നതശ്രേണിയിലെത്തിക്കുന്നതിൽ ഈ സ്ഥാപനം പ്രധാന പങ്ക് വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യാനന്തര ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ വിവിധ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെയും വിവിധ ആഫ്രിക്കൻ സർക്കാരുകളുടെ നേതൃനിരയിലുള്ള വ്യക്തികളും ഫോർട്ട് ഹെയർ സർവ്വകലാശാലയിലെ പൂർവ്വവിദ്യാർത്ഥികളാണ്.

1959 ൽ ഈ സർവ്വകലാശാല ആഫ്രിക്കൻ വർണ്ണവിവേചനത്തിനടിപ്പെട്ടു. ഇന്ന് ഈ സർവ്വകലാശാല ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ സ്വതന്ത്ര ഉന്നതവിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനമാണ്.
