ഏകദിന ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ചരിത്രത്തിലെ ആദ്യ ലോകകപ്പാണിത്. പ്രുഡന്‍ഷ്യല്‍ കപ്പ് എന്ന പേരിലാണ് ഇത് അറിയപ്പെട്ടത്. ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടായിരുന്നു ഈ ലോകകപ്പിന് ആദിത്യം വഹിച്ചത്. ക്ലൈവ് ലോയ്ഡിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ വെസ്റ്റ് ഇന്‍ഡീസ് ഈ ലോകകപ്പ് നേടി. ഇത് നടന്നത് 1975 ജൂണ്‍ 7 മുതല്‍ ജൂണ്‍ 21 വരെ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടില്‍ വച്ചാണ്. ഇതില്‍ ആകെ 8 രാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. ആദ്യത്തെ മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ നാലു ടീമുകളുള്ള രണ്ട് ഗ്രൂപ്പുകളിലായിട്ടാണ് കളിച്ചത്. ഇതിലെ മികച്ച രണ്ട് ടീമുകള്‍ സെമിഫൈനലില്‍ കളിച്ചു. സെമിഫൈനലിലെ വിജയികള്‍ ഫൈനലിലും കളിച്ചു.

ഇതിലെ മാച്ചുകള്‍ ഇന്നത്തേതില്‍ നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി 60 ഓവറുകള്‍ വീതമുള്ളതായിരുന്നു. കൂടാതെ ചുവന്ന ബോള്‍ ആണ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചത്. കളിക്കാര്‍ ടെസ്റ്റ് ക്രിക്കറ്റിലെപ്പോലെ വെളുത്ത വസ്ത്രങ്ങളുമാണ് ധരിച്ചത്.
