പാർവ്വതി എന്ന ഹിന്ദുദേവതയുടെ അവതാരമാണ് ഭവാനി (തുലജ, തുരാജ, ത്വരിറ്റ, അംബ, ജഗദാംബ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു) മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിൽ ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ദുർഗയുടെ ഒരു രൂപമാണ് ഭവാനി. കൂടാതെ വടക്കൻ ഗുജറാത്ത്, വടക്കൻ കർണാടക, പശ്ചിമ രാജസ്ഥാൻ, പഞ്ചാബ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ ഗുജർമാരും ആരാധിക്കുന്നു.[1]ഭവാനി "ജീവൻ നൽകുന്നവൾ" എന്ന് വിവർത്തനം ചെയ്യുന്നു. അതായത് പ്രകൃതിയുടെ ശക്തി അല്ലെങ്കിൽ സൃഷ്ടിപരമായ ഊർജ്ജത്തിന്റെ ഉറവിടം. തന്റെ ഭക്തർക്ക് ഒരു അമ്മയായി അവർ കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. കൂടാതെ അസുരന്മാരെ കൊന്നുകൊണ്ട് നീതി നടപ്പാക്കുന്നതിൽ ഒരു പങ്കു വഹിച്ചു.
