ലിത്വാനിയൻ ഭാഷ ലിത്വാനിയ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക ഭാഷയും യൂറോപ്യൻ യൂണിയനിലെ ഔദ്യോഗിക ഭാഷകളിലൊന്നുമാണ്. ലിത്വാനിയായിൽ ഏതാണ്ട് 29 ലക്ഷം പേർ ഈ ഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.[3] രണ്ടു ലക്ഷം പേർ രാജ്യത്തിനു പുറത്ത് ഈ ഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ബാൾട്ടിക്ക് ഭാഷയായ ലിത്വാനിയന് ലാത്വിയൻ ഭാഷയുമായി അടുത്ത ബന്ധമുണ്ടെങ്കിലും അവ പരസ്പപരം മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ പ്രയാസമാണ്. ലാറ്റിൻ അക്ഷരമാലയിലാണ് ഈ ഭാഷ എഴുതുന്നത്. ലിത്വാനിയൻ ഭാഷയെ ഇന്തോ-യൂറോപ്യൻ ഭാഷാഗോത്രത്തിലെ നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന ഏറ്റവും യാഥാസ്ഥിതികമായ ഭാഷയായി കണക്കാക്കാം. ഈ ഭാഷ ഇന്ന് നാശോന്മുഖമായ പ്രോട്ടോ-ഇന്തോ-യൂറോപ്യൻ ഭാഷാശ്രേണിയിലെ പല സവിശേഷതകളും നിലനിർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
